Some sad news on the farm. My aunt and uncles horse died Sunday. Smokey was a 36 year old Tennessee Walker. He was born, raised and died here. He was the last of the horses from my childhood. The others were a buckskin mare and my little shetland pony. I was five when I got her. I lost her 7 years ago just right after my 30th birthday. She was 35 years old when she died. Her name was bubbles. Dawn was the mare and she too, was around 31 or 32 when she died. Like Smokey, she was born and raised here on the farm. She died about 6 years ago.
My uncle was just down here Saturday and said he did see how Smokey could go on much longer. Sunday he didn`t come in for his feeding. My uncle looked for him a couple days and then he found him yesterday. He was at one of his favorite spot. He had fell into the ditch.
When my uncle chewed tobacco, he would always give smokey some. My uncle would laugh and say "it was all that tobacco he ate when he was younger, that kept him alive all these years". I know Smokey will be missed.
I am a stay-at-home, Christian homeschooling mom. My husband and I have been married for 19 years. We have been blessed with three kids, ages 18, 10 and 8. We live on a family farm and have several animals. I`m just a simple farm gal, who loves her God, family, friends and life.
