My grandmother love to make pies. She would make pies every week when she was able. She could make any kind of pie she wanted to. There was pies all the time on the counter. She always told me to make sure I learned to make pies because I would marry a man who loves pies. Well sure enough, I did. I can make pies. I just don`t make them as good as she did.
For the last couple of weeks I have been wanting one of her butterscotch pies. Well I knew I didn`t have her recipe. I asked my aunt if she had it. She didn`t because like a lot of things my grandmother made, she didn`t use a recipe. My aunt kinda remembers the way mamaw made hers. My aunt said she is going to try it and see if it turns out. I hope it does. I have found a couple of butterscotch recipes but they are nothing like my mamaws. I did make one today and it was good but not like hers. This is one of those things I wish I had wrote down while she was able to tell me. I will keep looking or hopefully my aunt will be able to recreate my mamaws. Oh I did take a pie of it over to my papaw and he really like it. He loves pies. I guess that is why mamaw always had pies made. She loved making him happy and taking care of him.
