• Wednesday, December 19, 2007 - It all starts today
Yeah, it begins today. What I mean by that is the rush for Christmas. Now when it comes to Christmas I try and put it off as long as I can. I have bought a few gifts online but that is about it. As far as the Christmas gift buying goes we have cut way back on it. At one time we were buy for 40 people. I kid you not. Try buying for that many and not having a credit card to use. Anyway we finally decide to just buy for the our kids and just our parents. I have 3 brothers and one sister. Sam has 3 brothers and two sisters. We would buy for all them and their kids. Then we would buy for all my aunts and uncles and their kids and grandkids. Not to mention all the other little gifts for outside the family.
I have been getting the house ready all month and just have a couple of little things to finish up the cleaning. I have to clean out the kitchen pantry and shampoo the living room carpet. Then just general straightening up. Then on Saturday all the cooking begins. Here is what will be going on.
Today and tonight. Go shopping for food and gifts
Thursday clean, clean and clean
Friday go to my aunts and visit with my cousins. They are coming in from Tennessee.
Saturday cook for my sisters.
Sunday get up early and hit the road. Going to my sisters house in Ohio. It is a two hour drive one way.
Monday get up early and start cooking again. I will be taking something to Sam`s mom and dads. Then my mom, stepdad brother, Christine and Heather will be coming in later Monday night. I am going to be cooking for them. Late Monday night we will be opening gifts.
Tuesday get up early and start cooking again for Christmas dinner. We eat about 1:00 or 2:00.
Wednesday clean up all the mess.
I said next year I am not having Christmas. It is so hectic trying to work around everyones schedules. I haven`t enjoyed a Christmas in the last 5 years. I try hard every year to make it as easy as I can on everyone. I was doing all the cleaning and all the cooking. This year my aunt is going to bring some things and my mom is to. That will help with the cooking part. Oh well it all works out in the end. The kids have fun and the enjoy it. Thats all that matters to me. Well I have to go get a shower and get ready to go to town with my cousin. Merry CHRISTmas to everyone.
It is not fun when all of the work it put on one person. I use to be the party instead of getting invited to the party.I am talking about other holidays, not Christmas, My mom always has Christmas for her children and grandchildren. I would provide the place, the food, the cooking, the cleaning, all the work. While everyone else had a good time. Finnaly I told them all that I was not doing it any more. It was someones else turn to be the party. These people were all my inlaws.
Well, someone else is doing it now and we don't get invited. They keep their get togethers, Easter, fourth of July, birthdays, secret.
It told me that they were just using me because I would cater to them all.At first,I was doing this out of my love for them, but somehow it changed to being a big burden.
It hurt me at first and I was even a little angry about it but not now. I am over it.
I think someone should be helping you out , it is too much work for one person to do.
