Deer are dying in our area by some type of virus. I just found this out today. They are asking people not to eat deer meat this year. My aunt was telling me today, that some of our neighbors had several deer dead on their property and the smell was so bad that they couldn`t stand to live there. They called the game and wildlife management and they came to pick up the deer. Game and wildlife management said they would be running test on the deer. The deer hasn`t had fresh water to drink. We are in a sereve dought . There is some type of bug that is in the water and are bitting the deer. Well that is the way I understood it. I guess it is in Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and Tennessee too. I am going to try and find out about it more. This weekend is the youth hunt and dh was planning on taking the kids deer hunting. Now I don`t know if he will or not. sheryl
It is also in our area. It is a fever and is not transferable to humans. It poses no threat to humans....so it safe to eat deer. But as always, you never eat an animal that appears ill.
