After wanting to build a fire last night, DH build one tonight. We use an outdoor wood burner for our heat. When we first moved in our house we used a woodburner and then went to gas. The gas heat got outrageous. Then a couple of years ago we decided to go back to wood. I personally think wood is warmer.
My uncle will coming down tomorrow morning to use his potato plow to plow out my potatoes for me. We are not doing school because it is our fall break. My dd that is in public school will be home to help. Dh cleaned out the potato box down in the cellar for me. sheryl
Hi there!
I never know if a blogger goes back to read my answer to their question, so I try to send them an answer as well.
I buy the Cornish Cross meat birds from Murray McMurray Hatchery. I don't raise them the traditional "hurry up and grow them so we can eat them" way. I let them grow slowly and naturally. I will blog about my method next. I've been doing it the same way for years, but I do have 40 acres they can free range on, so that makes a difference.

I love wood heat - we use our woodstove pretty much all winter. Do you have to go outside to feed your woodstove then?
Yeah, We load it up in the morning then again at night. I do have to go out twice during the day to check it. Sometimes I may have to add a couple of pieces of wood. It is nice because I don`t have all that mess from the indoor burner.
