I don`t have a lot to blog about today, but I did want to write about something. So I thought I would start off with the weather. Monday and Tuesday record breaking highs. I think Monday high was 94 and Tuesday was in the high 80`s. The morning started nice and by this evening I was wearing a sweat shirt to cut the grass. DH is wanting to build a fire, it is cool but I don`t think it is that cool. I will just throw some extra quilts on the beds. I know the kids have their warm pj`s on.
I did manage to get the biggest part of the yard cut and started racking leaves this evening. DH started splitting some wood and I helped stack it. I am starting to pay for that in my shoulder and lower back but it has to be done.
Dh bought me some medal nesting boxes. Some friends of ours bought an old chicken farm. Which the farm has six big long barns and some of the barns is still set up for chickens. Twelve slots to one section of the medal boxes. I am sure you have seen the in the hatchery magazines. Not really sure how to explain it. I came out of the coop this evening and hit my knee on the corner of it and let me tell I wanted to cry. Now I have a cut spot, bruise and knot on my knee. The hazards of living on a farm. lol
I now have two baby calves to bottle feed. The mommy`s would not let them nurse. We really need to order some kickers and have them ready when the mommys don`t take them. I finally found them online at some dairy farm supply. At least if I have a set of kickers I would be able to milk the cows too, without getting kicked. It no fun getting kick by a cow.
Well it`s late and I need to get ready for bed. sheryl
I just Love to read about your days on your farm. You are a true farm girl and a hard worker, an inspiration to me and many others.
I would love to have a dairy cow. We had one when I was growing up and I rememberd haelping to make butter, what a joy.Now days we go buy butter at the store and It does not even taste like butter.
Luky you, to have those metal nesting boxes. I would like to get back into the egg business. We just have meat chicken at this time but we do have many customers wanting eggs.
Take care of that knee, back, and shoulder.

Maa,
Thank you so much for reading my blog. I am always afraid that no one finds it interesting. I wish I was a better writer and could share more about our life on the farm. I want to try and get back to as much of the old ways I can. I want to get back to the way things were when I was little. I want for my kids to experience the same things I did. Thank you for all the wonderful things you say. sheryl
