Maa asked me if I would care to share the recipe for my icing for my cakes. The icing I use is a butter cream from Wilton`s. Wilton`s has all kinds of great icing and cake recipes on their website. Here is the buttercream icing recipe.
2/3 cups water
4 tablespoons Wilton Meringue Powder
12 cups sifted confectioners` sugar
1 1/4 c. shortening
3/4 salt
1/2 teaspoons Wilton butter flavor
I mix water, meringue, shortening, butter flavor and add confectioners` sugar a cup at time. If you add more water, the softer and fluffy your icing will be.
I took classes at Hobby Lobby. It wasn`t expensive at all. I only completed two courses and would like to go back and complete the third one. The third course is where you learn to put wedding cakes together. I am pretty sure I could do it. I was signed up and took two classes but then everything happen with my grandma and it was hard to finish it. I think I only had 6 or 8 classes left and I would have been able to have taught classes for Wilton. Who knows maybe I will go back and finish that last course. There is three course you have to complete. Each course last 6 wks. with one class a week, I think. I really enjoy doing cakes. I am just rusty at it. I would tell anyone who would like to learn to take the Wilton course. It is so much fun. Sheryl
Thank you Sheryl! We have a Hobby Lobby near us and I will see if they offer those classes.
I am anxious to make that icing and give it a try.
You have given me some really good information today.
