• Wednesday, September 12, 2007 - Working in apples
I have been working in apples today. So far, I have canned 6 pints and dh is going to the store for me to get some freezer bags. I want to put some in the freezer to. I could have gotten more done if I didn`t have this awful cold. I woke up this morning sick. I am aching all over. But I am still going to try and get as much done as I can.
Well I have been able to mark off a couple of things off my fall cleaning list. We are planning on closing down the pool this weekend. I hope to be able to finish cleaning up my flower beds and I hope to plant some mums. I want to put up some fall decorations. I noticed my neighbor has already started putting hers up. I need to go for now and get some more apples peeled. sheryl
We did not get any apples from our trees this year. They started out loaded with apples but something got every apple on the tree.
I have a friend that usually gives me what she does not need. She has about ten trees so she always has some to give away.
The girls and I make pie filling with our apples and freeze it. When we want to make a pie we just thaw the filling and put it in the crust. It always taste great this way.
You are always busy,busy,busy, you remind me of the women in my family,always working at something.We all come from a long line of homesteaders, some who came to KY when it was nothing but a wilderness.

Sorry to hear you are under the weather. I love to can anything. I think beets and apples are next. I went to the orchard and picked some apples today they were .75 a pd I thought that was alot. They were macs I got enough for two big pies happy canning blessing haflinger
