Happy 4th of JulyPosted on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 02:08 by Happyowl - 2 Comments - Post Comment - LinkTo all my American neighbours! Hope your day is spent with friends and family.Brightest Blessings Heather Happy Canada DayPosted on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 02:59 by Happyowl - 0 Comments - Post Comment - LinkAnd anniversary to me!20 years ago, I caught a train in Edmonton, Alberta to start a new life in Ontario.I ended up in Toronto on Canada day, after a very long train ride. All I had with me was my pet rabbit, 1 duffle bag and lots of hopes and dreams. The road has had many ups and downs but I have grown in more ways than I would have ever imagined! I still miss my home and still call myself an Albertan but I am proud that I followed my heart and hubby. Today, I couldn't imagine what life would be like without my hubby by my side and we are that much closer to going "home". Canada was built on people leaving the security of their homeland's to follow their dreams and make better lives for themselves, I am proud that I was able to follow in their footsteps and even manage to do it on the Celebration of their work! Happy Canada day to all and don't forget to follow your hearts! Brightest Blessings Heather more changesPosted on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 08:50 by Happyowl - 1 Comments - Post Comment - LinkFor the most part, we have been having beautiful weather. I could live without the high humidity but my tomato plants really seem to like so I won't complain too much. I have even been able to harvest my lettuce twice!Today, I am off to a job interview. It's for a full time position at the mall close to my new house. I believe I timed the walk at 7 minutes or somewhere close to that. The job is in a clothing store, which, I wear clothes, I'm sure it would be fun to work in a store like that. So heres hoping I do well on the interview Brightest Blessings Heather Sewing DiapersPosted on 2009-Jun-26 at 09:42 by KimMC - 2 Comments - Post Comment - LinkThis is one of the diapers I've been sewing. It's for dd1, its from the FattyCake pattern. I love it! The outside is an upcycled shirt, the hidden and inner layers are sherpa. Then there is a trifold sherpa lay in soaker.
![]() ![]() ![]() Busy gardening, sewing and hot weatherPosted on 2009-Jun-26 at 09:37 by KimMC - 1 Comments - Post Comment - LinkI haven't had time to post here for a little while. I've been very busy trying to catch up with the gardens. We went from very cool and wet weather (yes even needing to use the wood stove!) to extreme hot and dry weather. Dh set up the AC a few days ago and that helped a LOT. I have a hard time breathing when the weather gets into the 30's C and humid. During the day we've been just trying to keep cool. Come evening I've been working non stop in the gardens. I'm not sure what's worse, gardening during the hot day or the bugs in the evening! LOL
The weeds had really gotten away from us during the rainy spell. Now I have almost all the beds cleared out. I just need to finish around the cabbages and some tomatoes. I will need to finish it up tomorrow as it looks like we are in for another week of rain. We had a cold front come through yesterday. It didn't make it any cooler then, although today is lovely! But we did get some nasty storms up this way. The worst of it just skirted around us, we received mostly rain and some thunder. But others had large hail and there were a few tornadoes.
This morning I went to the annual library book sale in a nearby town. It's pretty big and goes by donation. I look forward to it every year! There didn't seem to be as many books as last year and it was VERY crowded, but I still found some great deals. I'll share more about my finds tomorrow, but I picked up 30 videos on different topics from animals, science and drama. Lots of books on history and countries around the world. Perfect for our unit studies this year!
I've been busy sewing an knitting to. My dd3 is working hard at potty training (yahoo!) so I'm sewing trainers for her. DD1 started reacting a while back to the liners in her pocket diapers. They have a suede cloth liner that she doesn't do well with. So I'm switching her over to fitted and wool/fleece covers. Then little ds is an odd size lol so doesn't fit into many that I already have. He has a wide waist and long rise. Soooo yup I'm sewing up a new stash for him to!
I also have a big stack of skirts I've cut out and need to sew.
Flower PhotosPosted on 2009-Jun-26 at 09:16 by KimMC - 0 Comments - Post Comment - LinkI was talking some garden photos the other day. I really liked how these came out! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Baby PicsPosted on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 06:01 by Beth's Brightside - 1 Comments - Post Comment - LinkI'm back.
![]() Silas is less than 12 hours old. This is the morning he was born. 2:13 am, 18.5", 6 lbs even. ![]() Trying to sun him in the window for jaundice... ![]() Leon's fascination with dandelions (and drooling) continues. You can see the rooster pecks from a week ago below his eye and middle of forehead. Needless to say, the rooster is no longer with us. We're so grateful his eye wasn't hurt. Now he just has to adjust to having a new baby brother. ![]() ![]() One of the treats Kim brought home from the Farmers' Market. I really must plant some ranunculus next year...they are so gorgeous! That's all for now. I've pulled an all-nighter with a headache and should try to sleep now. HiatusPosted on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 12:09 by Beth's Brightside - 0 Comments - Post Comment - LinkI guess I've taken an extensive hiatus as of late...the third trimester took its toll, and then the baby came "early" because my due dates were off, and then the midwife didn't make it in time and we had an unassisted birth that was PERFECT! ...anyway, lots to catch up on for sure.
I am going to try to find time to backpost a bit, do forgive. I want to record our story somehow before this mommy brain forgets everything that happened. Spring was lovely. I miss all the flowers. ![]() But we have a new baby boy to keep us busy! Here is Silas at 2 days old. ![]() I kind of thought he was a boy, and couldn't resist buying a few adorable girlie outfits like this one. ![]() Here I am in all my pregnant glory, hours before he was born. ![]() The smell of lilacs will always remind me of when I had Silas. So anyway, I'm back for a little bit. My head is spinning with all the excitement and craziness that is two kids, but we are managing and I hope to share a bit here and there. Have a good'n! GardenPosted on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 08:07 by Happyowl - 4 Comments - Post Comment - LinkDespite the fact that we have had cooler than normal temps and lots of dark, dreary days..... one of my tomato plants has three tiny tomatoes! I am so excited and impressed! The rest of the tomato plants have tons of flowers on them as well. It's nice to know that even in the city, I will be able to grow some of my own food.DD is almost finished her school for the year. We are still waiting for her marks from the last lesson to come in but as soon as they do, we can send off the final lesson. It will be nice when we are finished. She will continue to do workbooks over the summer but nothing as in-depth as we were doing. I know she is totally prepared for public school in the fall..... the big question is........ Am I? We bought a second hand washer and dryer off of kiijiijii(sp). The people are so nice that they are delivering it for us today. Who would have thought something as simple as a washer would cause so much excitement? LOL... no more laundromat with people taking up all the machines at once. All of the repairs that needed to be done to our new place are now done. We have a door on the main floor bathroom ( always a good thing) and the water heater and leaky pipe are fixed. The plumber put in a request for us to have a new water heater because the one we have is old but I won't hold my breath for that one. Anyways that's what's been happening around here. Have a great day everyone Brightest Blessings Heather Garden Tour May 21st Part 3Posted on 2009-Jun-8 at 10:57 by KimMC - 1 Comments - Post Comment - Link |
