You might be a homesteader if...

1> if you have more Mason Jars than glasses in your cabnet.

2>if your homeschool life science class is during kidding season.

3>if you have ever spent the night in the barn.

4>if you have ever had a farm animal in your kitchen.

5>if "going to town" includes the feed store.

6>if you get giddy at seed catalogs.

7>if you know who made your bread.

8>if you know the difference in animal poo.

9>if you know what time the sun rises and sets each day.

10> if you have ever gone to town wearing your barn shoes-boots.

11>if getting a tan means "Yeah, NO more sun burns!"

12>if you know what LGD is.  (large guard dog>

13>if you've ever busted an egg in your pocket.

14>if "taking the day off" means you've fed, watered, milked, cleaned and washed already.

15>if you don't turn on the air conditioner because "then it will just feel too hot outside!"

16>if your house smells like a pickle factory in the summer.

17>if your clothes dryer is solar (ie clothes line)

18>if your favorite cooking pan is cast iron.

19>if grocery shopping includes 25lb-50lb bulk sacks.

20> if your neighbors slow down in front of your drive to see whats new. (if they can even see your house from the road)

21>Last but not least............if the locals refer to you by the animals you keep....goat lady, chicken lady,  rabbit lady, dairy lady, you know the farm down the road.......

Oh my.. I am a homesteader.. The sad or the good thing is i have done almost all of these... the funny thing is my next to the oldest the other day put a egg in her jeans pocket and forgot about it.. She sat down and well egg everywhere.. She laughed and laughed at herself... She had egg all the way down her leg... Crazy kid...

Oh My! I fit this....we have baby chicks in a box in our kitchen right now...LOL.....I was reading this to my hubby and he was checking them off as I read them...BUT I am proud to say I am a homesteader...and refered to as the "goat lady" and "chicken lady" here in my neck of the woods!
