Basic food storage amountsI have looked for some time for a guideline of how much food to store for each person in a family. What I did was take my monthly shopping list and compile a yearly total-It worked out pretty good-it is surprising the amounts of some things we purchase. I found a guideline on the internet yesterday that I thought I would share with you. These are per adult averages. Grains = 400 lbs Milk and dairy = 75 lbs Juices and dry beverage mix = 25lbs Fats and oils = 20 lbs Canned or dried Meats = 20 lbs Fruits and Veg. = 90 lbs Dried or 370 Qts canned Beans = 90 lbs Sugars = 60 lbs This does not include misc items such as spices, condiments, or Auxillary foods i.e. Baking powder, mixes, yeast, and salt. I hope this helped. Blessings>faithfarm
