Does anyone have directions to make homemade laundry soap with products that I can find here in Oklahoma? I have seen a couple on the blogs but I can't find the ingredients to make it. I would prefer to have liquid soap if possible. My Grandmother used lye soap shavings that she put in boiling water.....do I have other choices? Anyone have any secrets they want to share? Thanks for any help you can give.

I make some and I can get the recipe for you, though it may be one that you have already seen. I wonder if you are able to get these ingredients. I use Fels-Naptha soap, Arm & Hammer Washing Soda and Borax. You can use Ivory, Zote or even homemade soap if you can't get the Fels-Naptha. It turns into a gel like liquid and does a great job. I'd be happy to share the recipe, if you would like it.:-)

I bar of Fels-Naptha
2cups of Arm and Hammer washing Soda
1 to 2 cups of Borax
This soap is good, I have been using it for over six yrs.It is a liquid soap that does not suds.
You can buy Fels-Napths from www.soapsgonebuy
The other things you might find at the walmart or your grocery store, if not soaps gone buy has it all.
I can give you the direction too if you want them.
The recipe from the family homestead may use a smaller amount of ingredients than I use. I think the recipe that I use is an excellent one. You can try different recipes till you find the one you like.In the many years that I have used this recipe I have no complaints.

Hey..I use the same recipe as listed already..I use Fels or my homemade soap as well. Either works fine. I know it's hard to find the ingredients in some places...I found it in Kroger here if you have Krogers where you are at. Maybe you could ask them or your local supermarket, to get it for you... If not I can mail it to you...for the cost and shipping. Which might bring it up to be too much $'s...not sure.
