Thoughts on being prepared

My daughter woke up yesterday not feeling well and by afternoon we were battling a high fever.  After a long night and much praying she is doing alot better this AM.  It got me thinking of a time when she was younger when she had a high fever.  It was one of those times when ---AHHH my baby's sick----I didn't have fever reducer medications in the house or any of the items that I needed.  The situation was worsened because I was not prepared.  Last night was not easy but at least I had all the necessary items in the house that we needed to help her.  I had acetomenophen/ibuprophen/thermometers that worked/alcohol for cooling water bath/sprite/crackers/medicine to help the sick stomach/and a better knowledge to deal with the situation.  The night was not complicated by a rush trip into town.  My husband was not frantically trying to find the childrens medicine in a store open at odd hours..he was home with us comforting our daughter.  So as you plan your store/stock/emergency items don't forget about those things that are needed for all age groups in your family.  Hopefully you wont have to use them.  It is not such a bad feeling to discard a $2.00 bottle of fever reducer because it is out of date and not used.  Just Thank God and remember to replace it-lol.  I hope you all have a Blessed and peaceful day.

that is so true, I always stock up in September with all those meds for the family and lots of crackers, soda pop, gatrade (works great for stomach flu as it seems to be the only thing they can keep down and has sugar) I freeze homemade chicken noodle soup for emer. cases and lots of Klennex never know when it might hit. Have a great day.

I hope your dd is feeling better now.

Thank you for admitting that I am not alone in mixed up priorities at times in my homeschooling! :-)

It's so true about being prepared..plus I have incredible gratitude for medication....and a country where we can go to the corner store and purchase those things we need.....I know when I was in Africa and the children were sick with high fever, there wasn't anything and some died just from fevers which could have been prevented had they had "Tylenol"

Thank you for the reminder.
