A False Balance

First of all let me wish you all a day of great peace as I strive for the same.  As I was doing my morning reading, I came across a verse that struck home really hard and it seemed to be one I should share.  Its one of those verses I know I must have read before but this morning it sunk in.  It is:

A False balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.  Proverbs 11:1 KJV

Honestly my first fleshy feeling when I read this was....ouch!  Then as I continued I got peace.  I really believe this is a good word for me today as so many things pile up this time of year.  What seems to be a "I have to do list"  or "this all needs to be done before list" can get overwhelming for anyone.  I think even those that strive diligently to keep God first can get overwhelmed easily this time of year.  Just take a trip to the local store and see what I mean.  It get's kinda ugly out there-Everyone is in a rush for one reason or another.  Most of us have family coming or are going to see family-Houses have to be cleaned, food has to be prepared, holiday festivities, last minute shopping....even the most simple households are effected by this time of 'great joy and peace'.  It doesn't matter if you celebrate Christmas or not-most normal activities are affected.  I waited 15 min. just to get fuel in town the other morning and you want to talk about a chance to see some unhappy people.  The store parking lots are filled with shouts and unseemly behaviors.  It really seems out of balance to me.  I know personally my simple Holiday celebration has bloomed into something easily out of balance if I am not very careful.  So this morning I am going to stop and breath a moment.  Try to regain some balance in my unending list of to-do's today.  Smile and enjoy the next few days I have with family, rejoice in our Lord, be thankful for all he has given us....he is so kind to us, even when we least deserve it.  My heartfelt prayer for all of you friends out there is that you have a peaceful, well balanced, time of fellowship with those that you love this holiday season.  Merry Christmas to you.

Thank you for the comment. I was just reading your entry about a good farm dog...lol. I have one of those too, although I had to buy her, but she has been worth every penny. I wouldn't want to be with out her that's for sure.

I also enjoyed your "balance" post. This time of year has changed for us...we do keep it simple...infact, we are keeping it extremely simple.. we still get to gether with family, (in-laws and older children) that still like to celebrate it... It has been a hard to balance during this transition...I know close family members don't understand...and are concerned, that maybe we are taking Jesus out of it...but I can't be certain anymore that Jesus would want to be part of it.
But again...thank you for your comment, I'd like to add you to my friends list...
Blessings, and may your family have a wonderful Sabbath...

Balance

It really is a life of ups and downs and with the roller coaster people are on they truly are stressed more than with peace. The world is so out of balance. Every thought unkind or loving brings much more into the life of that person and the ones in the atmosphere. Finding peace within sure makes it on the out side too I have found. I must say I have more peace, joy, faith, hope, love and more now in my life than in all the other 53 years. I had to change my mind to then change my life. What a blessing to find that inner place where deep calls to deep so all is made new again in Christ the true reason to live.
Have a blessed Christmas Birthday Celebration. *U* Rilda

How very true. I have been sick this past week with what I believe to be the flu, so my list kept getting bigger and bigger. This morning I am feeling some better, so I am going to do what has to be done and the rest can wait. I hope you have a very Merry and balanced Christmas.
