First off, know that I don't really like snakes and second off know that, yes, I was crazy to let my daughter have one a few years ago and then my son have one too. Well, they have turned out to be pretty easy pets (no dog hair or chewed up stuff- well then there is the whole feeding time thing, but I don't participate). So, months ago, my son's snake escaped. (Still don't know where he is). And in the last few years, my son adopted my daughter's snake, since she is out of the house. Well, the life of a snake isn't too exciting, so you can't blame them for escaping! A few days after my birthday (June) I discovered the snake was gone- turns out my son and husband KNEW IT!! They didn't want to tell me on my birthday. Well, the rascal decides to come back but went to the other snake's old tank!! A few days later the snake was gone again. It gave me the creeps for a few days, but we figured it had gotten outside somehow and was gone for good. WRONG!! Yesterday, I was in my son's room and turned to go out and low and behold! It was making its way back into his cage!!! EEK! I ran out of the room, my husband went in, grabbed the snake and insisting on holding and petting it (then ran out and got a mouse for it). Can you believe it?? I was shocked! Where has it been all this time??

Ok here's my snake story. Black snakes are very popular in florida and one night while half asleep I made my way to the bathroom. I never turn on the light. I did my thing and went back to bed. A minute later my dog is at the bathroom door sniffing and scratching at it, enough so we had to investigate. My husband turns on the bathroom light and a black snake was coiled up about 2 feet from where I was at. Talk about the heeby jeebies lol. He quickly put him in a pillow case and escorted him outside lol. We've since then have had 2 more black snakes make there way in the house. I would love to know how they get in here. Anyway when I read your snake story I remembered this one. May your snake be gone for good ha ha .
Blessings,
Kim

The snake is a King Snake- it is pretty big. Very pretty (if I liked snakes). I live in Florida too and we have had a couple of resident black snakes (outside, thankfully). They are good for eating other worse stuff (if you have any citrus nearby, then rats are always a concern.) I am sure I would rather have a snake in the house than a rat- rats are nasty.
I like the bathroom story- I am sure in all the weeks the snake was missing, it was lurking nearby in the dark by me at one time or the other also- that would have creeped me out. Ugh! makes my skin crawl!!
