When we bought this little homestead we knew we would be getting a dog and cat (for the kids), a couple goats to eat down some brush (Zack's request) and some chickens for fresh eggs (my request). There was a kind of an order/time frame to the purchasing of these animals according to our five year homestead/mini ranch plan/idea. Can you tell that we didn't really have anything written in stone here LOL. Well things didn't quite go as "planned". The first animals we aquired were a pair of dwarf lop earred rabbits that grandma so kindly offered to buy for Sam and Kalaya as there first pets. They were pretty small and of course very cute, the kids named them Marshmello an all white bunny that Sam chose and Chi Chi a dark chocolate colored bunny that Kalaya chose. They became house bunnies and we very spoiled with treats and evening romps around the house. It wasn't very long after that Zack found Graham Cracker (8 week old mixed pup) listed on the Portland Humane Society website. He went that afternoon to look him over and put a hold on him. He couldn't bring him home yet because they wouldn't send him out the door untill he was nuetered. So the kids and I went to go pick him up the day they said we could. The first time I held him he was so small and precious, I nearly cried. Had the lump in my thoat and all...I'm such a sentimental wuss LOL . We changed his name to Dakota. A couple weeks later I looked up the meaning of Dakota, it means friend
Heres a picture of his first howl!
