Just thinking

Have you ever had one of those events in life that just stops you in your track?  A week ago today I received a phone call, from my sister.  Her first words were...."sit down", then her next words took the air out of the room, " I need you to get to the hospital Mom has had a stroke"!  For the next few moments I could not breath, think or even move.  The kids (ds12,dd8 and ds3) knew it was an emergency, they were scared yet remained quiet and calm.  After I pulled myself together, my sis and I made arrangements for me to take my kids to her house so they could stay with her husband, since my dh works nights.  We packed bags and before we left the house we got down on our knees and prayed, cried and prayed more.  You see my mom has always been my rock.  We see life SO differently yet I have such respect for her because she is my mom.  What is odd is that just on Sunday, my sis and I had a discussion inregards to my dad.  Four years ago dad had prostrate cancer and the doctors said 4-8 years the cancer would more than likely show up somewhere else.  Her and I were discussing that situation and has dad done things he's wanted to do and if not how can we help him and mom accomplish those dreams.  Then 3 days later this happens to mom.  Mom is out of the hospital but, she is still trying to figure out meds and her new life in general.  God showed himself to me in so many ways, not once did I feel alone in this journey.  I felt such comfort and peace.  I knew people were praying.  I have a dear friend that due to strained vocal chords she is unable to talk right now, but she is my prayer warrior.  I can call on her at any time and she will surround me in prayer.  We have not been friends for a long time but, our friendship is one that is so peaceful.  We can laugh, cry, dream but most of all be ourselves.  During her journey of silence I think that we have realized that we don't have to talk, we can understand one another in this moment of silence.  We can pray for one another and know that God is working within our lives.  Sure I will celebrate the day she is able to talk and share with me her view of this journey but, for now we will cherish the silence and listen to HIS voice instead our own.

May the Lord bless you all as you deal with this stroke. My brother had a stroke when he was only 42 & now he is 58 & very active. He had to switch to being left-handed, but he works & does well. Jill
