Focus is the key word

There are days with homeschooling that I feel like this is all I say to ds12 and dd8.  We have been trying very hard to teach our children to utilize their time wisely.  For ds12 he is always day dreaming about his next adventure.  Dd8 is so driven that her perfection is a problem.  She sets her standards SO HIGH that when a hurdle gets in the way she has melt downs.  So dh and I have been working with the kids to FOCUS on one task at a time and if you utilize that time wisely then it makes the task at hand managable.  Dd has a speech tournament coming up and I have been trying to get her to work diligently on her speeches.  Finally I sat her down and reminded her of her success last year.  She was the student that everyone wanted to beat.   We reviewed her accomplishments and told her that if she wanted that same success then she would have to put forth the effort.  I scheduled in her day 3 different times that I would stop what I was doing and work with her.  I left it ALL up to her.  I think that lit the fire in her.  She came to me those 3x's and we worked.  I just knew that I had to hold my end of the bargain.  She is very talented with speech and drama.  She does become VERY overwelmed, so I must break off her responsibilites into small bites.  FOCUS + Utilizing Time = Success!

Great plan!! Disciple is a treasure to behold. May all you do bring God's blessings to you. Focusing on the things that matter truly does bring success. I am proud of you for doing what you do. It is a two fold blessing when you both do what is expected. *U* rilda
