Even though we live in the city I try to do as much as I can to live the "country" life. We are blessed to have chickens, we have 10 hens and 2 roosters. I also have a large garden. Last year our garden a huge success. We had okra, corn, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, potatoes, watermellon, cantalope. We are going to double the size of our garden this year. We are also going to utilize extra space that my parents have at their home. With our chickens and garden I also have a compost pile. I researched compost piles and started with the most basic kind. I fenced off an area at the end of our garden and turn it as often as needed. I researched it and found out what layers are needed to make the compost pile successful. I'm starting to plan the garden for the spring. I'm trying to decide if I should start my own seeds or just purchase plants? I wonder what is best? Rachelle |
