Needs , Wants , Dreams

Dh and I have been talking for years, how badly we want to be out of the city.  When we bought our house ds was 9mnths old.  We were planning on being in this house maybe 3-5 years....well we have been in here 12 years. Honestly we LOVE our house.  I always tell dh if we could just pick up our home and set it on land I would be SO happy!  I'm the type of person that does not desire a large house.  The bigger the more to clean.  We desire the land.  There are days that I'm angry because we don't have what I WANT.  I pray daily asking God to bless us with our needs.  We also have dreams.  When do we know the difference between our "wants", "needs", and "dreams"?  How do we know what to pursue and when?                                                                         Rachelle

I hope God fulfills your dreams to have more land. We are the same way right now. We would love to buy lots of land with a medium sized house, but the market for real estate in our area is bad right now, so we will hang on and listen for God's timing on the right house.

God's Blessings,

Tuesday, January 15, 2008 - how do you know what a dream is?

I've wondered before too - but I really believe our deepest dreams (as opposed to "I want to be rich! kind of thinking)... actually are a part of us, a DESIGNED part of us. God himself is the ultimate creator, he 'dreamed' of a wondrous world, but his deepest desire was for companions-- and here we are! If we are made in his image (not spiritual image, but 'like' him) then these deep desires, these things that drive us, are something that makes us like him. So, he designed us with that, and he wants to give us success, for us to be happy and fulfilled in this life, looking to him to provide of course.
If we didn't have personal dreams/visions, we might be incredibly BORING. So lay your dreams at his feet and see where he takes you!
I could tell my own story but it's unfinished as of yet, so I'll tell you a story I recently read on another blog to illustrate.
A woman such as you, had a dream of having a horse-therapy ranch. (She LOVED horses and children, and the country...and wanted to be of some service.) Somehow by chance, she and her husband ended up on a ranch that came complete with MINI horses and other 'mini' animals. PERFECT for abused and needy children, more than she had known, since the large horses that she envisioned would have been too large, too intimidating, to work the healing ways that the mini animals do. So she got a dream fulfilled in a wondrous turn of events, and it was even BETTER than she could've imagined.
I hope this helps you. Dreams aren't selfish, they're part of a creative thing, and they are a path we take to seek God, and a path he uses to show us his divine intervention, action, and love to us- in our lives.
Please keep writing on this- sharing your experience with us!
