What's Your Hobby?

I know there are a lot of creative people out there. What are your hobbies? What are your crafts? Please share some of your ideas with me.

I love to scrapbook. I have tons of photos and try to get together with my daughter once a month to scrapbook. She's the smart one and has begun her albums now while her children are young. I have 34 years of catching up to do since she's 34 , my son is going to be 31 next week and my fifth grandchild is on the way. So I'd say that scrapbooking will be my busy craft for years to come! I enjoy the thought of leaving photos for my great-great grandchildren to enjoy in years to come. Not only are the pages more fun to look at and are fun to make but the journaling on the pages that tell the story of the photos is the most important to those in future years.

This is a layout from my heritage album. This is a photo of my mom's graduation in 1929. My parents passed away four years ago and this album means the world to me. This album is full of information of my ancestors and family that my children and grandchildren will be able to look back on and learn some of their history.

That album looks beutiful! The colours go really well together and it has a nice old-fashioned feeling. I would love to see more photos :) I haven't done any scrapbooking yet, it's quite new here in Finland but I think I might try it later when I have a bit more photos. I don't have any specialty in crafts at the moment but I like making cards and doing other kinds of paper crafts and trying out different kinds of crafts. I'm also interested in beading and calligraphy but I don't know much about those yet :)

2006-Mar-9 - Scrapbook!

I took all of the photos from my parents and started a heritage book for them. WOW. I started in 1939, and have made it too 1971!! I have all of the pictures sorted in a Cropper Hopper photo sort box. This thing was a God-send! Now, all I have to do is grab out a year (let's say 1971), sort that year chronologicly, then scrap away!!
I like the photo sort box so much, I bought one for *my* family photos. I have from 1990 to day to sort.
We are in the process of finishing a 20 X 22 room in the basement for me to put in a 1/2 bath and a scrapbook room. I am very excited about this!!
That way I will have room to have both my parents and my families scrapbooks laid out at the same time....and I can work on both!!
I do between 10-20 pages a month for my parents. They so very much enjoy bringing their book over for me to back fill! Some of the pictures, they have forgotten about......some of the pictures take them down 'memory lane' and it's fun to hear them reminess.
I love doing this because it brings smiles to faces and warms hearts!

2006-Mar-9 - You mean "obsessioni?"

I don't have hobbies - I have obsessons. I spin, weave, knit, sew, embroider, write, take pictures, want to learn to draw and paint, learn more about woodwork. You name it, I want to do it and will become obessed with it.

It's nice to see the scrapbooking - my daughter does this. I don't dare ... all my 40 years of pictures are in boxes waiting for the photo fairy to organize them.
