My Dryer is working!I forgot to post this, but I am so thrilled, I am posting it, even though it is late! LOL My dryer is fixed. My dryer quit working for about two weeks. I thought no big deal, I'll just hang them, but "where?". I don't have a clothesline in the house. DH won't stand for that. *grin* I'd have one in the basement, but Dh thinks it is too dingy to put clean clothes down there. Anyways, all I had was a small dryer rack that holds maybe a third of a load of laundry. Luckily I had hangers and I hung everything I could on hangers. I hung towels over the banister, I cleared my closet to one side and placed wet clothes in there with a fan blowing on them. I hung sheets hung between two hangers spread far apart to get some air. I had hangers hanging on lamp chains near the ceiling (those worked the best, up near the warm air!). I was able to do maybe two loads a day. I was getting farther and farther behind and was thankful when the repairman came. I realize we have TOO many clothes and we could get by on less, but normally it does not affect us when the dryer works. My oldest does her own laundry and when she did her load and had it hanging all over the house, she was laughing... she thought, man we are a silly bunch, but she is proud that mom and dad aren't running out to buy a new dryer... something that might have been done in the past. Well $94 later, the dryer works. While the dryer wasn't working, I realized how much TIME that machine saves me. During the summer, I don't have to worry about wood chores and hanging laundry gets me outside and I do my outside chores while I am out there. But in the winter with school going at full speed, having a dryer that doesn't work, really cuts into your time. I wasn't able to keep up with baking bread. I wasn't able to keep up with posting on ebay. I wasn't able to do a whole lot extra other than laundry. It gets me thinking, that yes, we want a simpler life, but there are some things I do want to do for my family... like homeschool and bake from scratch for health reasons and be organized with the many duties that I need to do for my family, my husband and our farm. Without the dryer, I would be so far behind, it would be silly to think I could accomplish all that I do. I praise God for conveniences that keep me home and up to speed with the duties that life has for me to attend to. Warmly, ~Melissa Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 93 of 306 } { Next Page } |
