Needing Income...

9:07 PM, March 5, 2007 .. Posted in Cutting Corners .. 2 comments .. Link

Has anyone got any good ideas for a sahm to bring in some income?  I don't want to be on the computer or the phone all the day, so that limits my options.  I am curious if anyone has ideas of what works for them.

I have some supplies for making soap, although I haven't made very many batches.

I have done Farmer's Market.  But, I can't say it was a huge money maker.

Are there other ways to bring in money at home that are not huge investments?

I am praying for answers.  I need to be home with the kids.  I am doing what I can to be frugal.  But it isn't enough.  I'll look forward to any thoughts you all have.

Warmly, ~Melissa

Hi Melissa, sahm well its the best job and most important one could have , but it just doesn't pay much when it comes to the green stuff. But the rewards are way worth the money.
Ok theres lots of things one can get into if you just think about it. Talents which are gifts that you have. Figure what your gifts are, what do people compliment you on is a good clue. Cooking, sewing, teaching, caregiver, gardening, artist, crafts, decorating, music, etc. Then find connections, if your good at teaching, maybe tudor someone, say sewing ,connect w/ a consignment shop, caregiver, maybe babysitting. Gardening, grow organics and herbs and sell to neighbors, maybe connect w/ a restaurant. Same with baking. Get into something you don't have to put a lot of money into right off the bat, then let the business pay for itself and making a profit at the same time. Making sure that you control it and not it controling you. Working at home has it pros and cons. I work at home and when my children were growing up. Sometimes it can lead to way late in the nights working so you can do things w/ the kids in the day time.
In prayer God will guide you , in the right time too. And the timing will be perfect. The best to you, God Bless linda

The way I have been able to stay at home was to do child care. It is a very tough job, and you have to really commit yourself and your family needs to be supportive, but it has given us a very good second income.
