Livin' my life on the farm

Life is Good

My goodness! It's been forever since I've last posted a real blog!(not just a picture of a cookie ) Well I've been busy. I'm working hard on trying to finish my school up this spring, I'll still prolly have a couple subjects to do thru out the summer thou.   But then I will be done with high school. yay! I can't wait to be done! But then there is college to look into. ugg.  I wish I could just stay on the farm forever! I love farm live. Gathering chicken eggs, working with horses, staying up late with a new born lamb. I can't say I always enjoy the paticular task at that given moment but I can't see a better way of spending my life.  If only life were so simple.

We got 25 broiler chicks yesterday. Grampa and Gramma said they'll take 6 of them. Still don't know exactly we are going to fit nineteen 6-8 pound chickens in our freezer....

Our 2nd to last ewe is about ready to lamb. Her rear is getting bigger, but not here udder.   I think she has mastits. I snuck up behind her the other day and there was just hard knots in there. So that means we need to keep a close eye on her so we can get the lambs a bottle real soon after they are born beings she doen't look like she will have any milk. Not to thrilled about starting all over with bottle lambs tho. Our youngest bottle lamb now is about a month old now so we just have another month of feeding with her.

Speaking of bottle lambs. Dad sold Blizz and Benny, our oldest bottle lambs. The lady is going to pick them up Monday night. She had two ewes but they both come down with milk fever and one died and the other lost her lambs(they were pregnant). So she wanted some friends for her surviving ewe.

I did an annoucing at church about my mission trip. Ah! I was so nervos and there wasn't even that many people there! lol But I got thru it and lots of people are exicded that I'm going.  Getting stuff ready for my trip is whats takeing up most of my free time.  Between subjects I'm writing up papers to put on the bulliten(spelling, I know) at church so people know where I'm at and upto date on things going on. I'm also sending out a letter to all the church members asking for donations. I have about 100 of them to write out. Can you say writer's cramp! Well I only have to write out the address' but still it's alot.

Not so sure what we're going to do today. Dad was saying something about planting trees, we got 50 Colorado Blue Spruce for a wind braker. And mom said something about going to town. And then my church said somthing about going out and picking up a park for earth day... Guess I'll have to see how it turns out.  Have a beautiful day! I know I will, yes we are finially into spring with temps in the 60's-low 70's. Ahh life is good! *grin*
