Quiet at last

Morning all,

I have had time to recoup from the hectic weekend, but oh what a weekend it was. The town's festival was great, and came off without a glitch. We had high temps in the 90's ( which is quite warm for here), and the crowd was overall pleased with this years event. We had a couple vendors that had to leave early, because their was candles were starting to melt!, but over all it ran for a good six hours. The lawn mower races were a big hit. People are already getting things in order for next year to participate. Some of the college kids that came to volunteer want to go back now and find used riding mowers to soup up and ride too. That's good for us since the college is quite huge and that means more racers. I did not get the chance to go see them but maybe next time.

Now that things are settling down, I am able to get my house back in order. I was able to get the kitchen cleaned up, the dining room table cleaned off, and over all put things away. Today I need to get the vacuuming done, my sewing room cleaned, and then maybe I can actually get the one quilt borders put on. I have been looking at some of what you gals are making, and am green with envy. I am hoping to even get started on some embroidery too.

Yesterday I planted eight strawberry plants in the garden bed. I need to go pluck off the few strawberries that are on them so that the energy can go into the root system this year. We are suppose to have rain the rest of the week and that will help me alot with the water problem. Hubby and I need to get our barrels set up to catch the rain water off the house so that we can use that water for the garden. Maybe this weekend we can work on that. I have all the concrete blocks to raise them off the ground with and one barrel already has a spicot on it. I have a website saved to my favorites to show how to set it all up, and it is so neat.

Well this Memorial Day, we are staying home. We wanted to go camping, but there is still alot of snow at the campgrounds. Until the snow is gone, the parks won't open it up, but that's o.k. I would not want to be in that direction anyways becasue of all the heavy flooding going on there right now. The St. Joe River is maxed out to capacity and is flooding its banks. Many people are having to boil their water for drinking and for everything else.

I guess I should go and get things started for the day. The vacuum awaits!

Will talk to you later.
