Uses for vinegar

Posted in Home Remedies

I found this blog on Homeschool Blogger and was just thrilled. She has several posts on vinegar.  There is one for dandruff that I am going to try this coming week.  That would be quite a blessing to be able to treat it this way instead of buying more dandruff shampoo.

Lemons

Posted in Home Remedies

I don't use my microwave very often.  But my dad does.  It can get quite messy.  I saw on a TV show to cut up a lemon and put it in a bowl of water.  Put it in the mic for about 2 minutes and then wipe clean.  AMAZING!!!

You aren't supposed to use cleaners in your microwave as it breaks down the seal and those chemicals could get into your food.  This is a great natural way to clean it.  And the lemon that I bought today to clean FIL's mic cost me $0.20.  Not a bad price for a clean, chemical free, lemony fresh microwave.

Vinegar

Posted in Home Remedies

We recently acquired two guinea pigs.  They were free but weren't taken care of the best.  Their cage had crystalized urine and the poop tray, for lack of a better word, was beyond nasty.  So I decided to tackle this task today.

First I hosed off the tray then poured in white vinegar.  I had read somewhere that this was good for hard stains in your toilet or hardened urine. I am AMAZED at the results.  It took a few times but it is nice and clean and fresh.

Next, while they were relaxing under a laundry basket and feasting on grass, I tackled the cage.  I had an old toothbrush and of course more vinegar. AMAZING.

I dumped all the vinegar/waste products on some weeds on the side of the yard.  Maybe it will not only clean their tray and cage but kill weeds too.  One can hope! LOL

Warts

Posted in Home Remedies

I was searching for a home remedy for wart removal.  I have several warts on my hands.  It is kind of embarrassing so I wanted them gone.  I looked at the wart treatments at the store and was AGHAST at the cost.  I am living on a beyond tight budget and couldn't see spending money for those medicines/treatments.

So I hit the great World Wide Web for home remedies.  I found one that worked for me.

Before going to bed each night I took of the heads of cotton swabs and put them in apple cider vinegar.  I put those on my warts and wrapped it up with a Band-Aid.  Then off to bed I went.  The vinegar seeps into the wart and draws the poison out. (I'm not sure if there is poison in warts but that is what it feels like).  It will be soar for 2 or 3 days and get kind of funny looking.  Once it formed a black head which is the wart dying off, I put super glue on the wart.  A wart needs air to survive.  Putting superglue on the dying wart deprives it of its oxygen.  I keep doing the vinegar at night until it comes off.

This method might or might not work for you.  But it is very inexpensive and worth a try.  It takes about a week and sometimes a little longer.
