Dailey Bred Farm

New to the Neighborhood

Hi all,

Just thought I should introduce myself.  I am wife to a great man who at 33, after a downsizing from corporate life decided he wanted to be a math teacher.  We are now at the end of a long three years of full-time teaching plus college work to get his certificate.  I am a homeschool mom of four.  Eldest daughter is 14 (wow, looks even worse to type it than to say it!)  Son is 12, second daughter is 9 and youngest daughter is 7.  These days I am also working part-time for my father's custom door business using CAD to draw up customer orders, as well as helping on a very sweet woman's goat farm.  I sounds like a lot and somedays it is!  But most of the time, I just have to prioritize and remember that it won't walk away....the work remains until I get to it.

The extra work is helping us realize the dream of owning our own place.  The place we rent now would be great for a homesteader with much more money than us, but it has been a haven in a strange series of moving (that story will have to wait for another day.)  We now have a nice flock of chickens which through their eggs mostly pay for themselves, a couple of Angora rabbits (to satisfy my urge for babies on the place)  and two Nigerian Dwarf does.  We are in the process of bringing a buck home so that we can have a mostly closed herd.  We  and the cat also are owned by a very spoiled Corgi.  You'll see her in the pictures....possibly even more than the children.

There are many stories that have come from our 8ish years of playing at this crazy "homesteading" lifestyle, but I'll save them for other days.  For now, I am working on being content in this, and every circumstance, and being the real me in all ways.

I am so glad to see you here:) I'm really new at it (as I told you the other day) so I'm not sure how it all works yet. I just open it up, type what's on my mind, and enter it!
Not always sure what will come out but you know me:)
Big hugs!

Hello and Welcome

Hi Cara,

I'm not too new here, but I don't post very often. Welcome. Your homesteading life sounds lovely.
