Chicks and the Chicken House

03:49 AM, Saturday, April 22, 2006 .. Posted in Chickens .. 0 comments .. Link

The chicks finally moved out of the house today. Last year, the baby chicks stayed in the house, until they were ready to be in the chicken house without a light. Thankfully, this year, D ran an extension cord out to the chicken house for the light. Here they are in the living room, with the the piano light. Hey, it works!

The chickies in the chicken house. They are seperated from the chickens by the lattice wall you see on the right. The box over on the right is the outside of the nesting box. We just lift the lid to check for eggs.

The chicken house entry way. Where we store the food, and wood chips. You can see the other half of the nesting box, and to it's right, there is a door going into where the chickens are. It's hard to see, though. You can also see the chickens little door to the outside on the bottom (with a chicken in it, lol), and the window above that.

The front of the chicken house, with D in the doorway.

The back of the chicken house, and their pen.

A close up of the chickens ramp to go into the house. To the right of this pic, is a door were we can go into their pen.

The chicken house was built by dfil. They don't have chickens anymore, and let us use it.
