Gone to Shipshewana!
Well, I am back now but that is where I went this morning. My cousin just moved to the area this summer and so I called her and then went over and rescued her from her unpacking.
I have really been needing some time away with some of my family lately and this is just what the doctor ordered. She totally spoiled my munchkins and we had a chance to reconnect. It was great to have someone to talk to that actually knew the people that I grew up with.
She is actually my second cousin...but since I was raised by my grandparents...it is more like she is just my cousin. She is only slightly older than me and her kids are about 2 years older than mine. So this is going to be great having her close by.
Anyway, I needed to get there to get some more jelly jars. Wal-mart ran out (big surprise) and I didn't want to pay the extremely high prices at Rural King. Since I needed some more gluten free supplies...and I was free today...I thought why not. I like it when I can be spontaneous like that!
So much of my life is now planned out and such that I can tend to feel boxed in at times. It does a body good to just drive sometimes!
So I ended up getting some jelly jars, some 1/2 gallon ball jars (for use as canisters), some cheese (totally necessary if you go to Shipshe), and the some gluten free flours. I needed some sorghum flour...which is nearly impossible to find in this small town, I got some more oat flour, and some brown rice flour...which they had never had when I was there before. Now my little guuy will be able to have some of these chocolate chip cookies that I just got a recipe for!
More importantly...I am feeling refreshed and ready to get busy! This has been an extremely trying week for me and I am just glad to be done with it. I have prayed about some problems that I have been having and left them with the Lord and now I just pray that they stay there (since it is really out of my control anyway). So now I think I will go and relax on the coch with the kids.
I will not be going to the market tomorrow because we are to be having rain off and on throughout the whole weekend. Our garden really needs it and I need a break anyway!
Blessings!
