Congratulations! We've been milking our neighbor's Dexter for the past week while they went away and it was a first time experience for us! I was so excited as the milk kept coming in more and more for us as well! I'm looking forward now to getting our own Dexter in the near future!

Congrats!! I milked a goat for the first time a few weeks ago. Being a city raised girl and milking a goat for the first time ever was quite the experience! I got 2 ounces on my first try.
Once we have our highlanders, I'll get the chance to milk a cow :)

Thank you for stopping by my place. I came over here for a visit and enjoyed reading about your experiences. I know that I loved my cows. I don't know if you do this, but I know that as long as my cow was busy eating I had no kicking or moving around( usually LOL). I put a leaf of alfalfa and a large can of grain with molassas in the feeder and locked her head in. but I had one cow that I just put the feed and grain on the ground and she just ate and let me milk. She freshened out at 8 gallons a day!!!! And you might try having someone milk with you one on each side. I milked a friends cow for her but she had to hobble the back feet and with one milking I knew why!! I wish you all the best, and wish I were back with all my babies growing up around me. Treasure every moment it goes by way too fast. I'll be back often. Blessings Handmaiden
