A New Doll Made!I frequent a wonderful craft site often and join in many craft swaps hosted by the site. (www.craftster.org) One of my latest swaps was to make a doll for a girl who loves Will Ferrell. LOL No, his style of humor is definately not my taste. But I thought I might be able to alter the current doll pattern I had on hand to make a boy doll. I asked her about the movie The Legend of Ron Burgundy and if she liked it. She said absolutely. So I looked up a few pictures of old Ron and decided to make a Will Ferrell/Ron Burgundy doll complete with the burgundy suit! I thought he turned out looking pretty cute! What do you think??
And here are a few with Noah posing with him.....just for fun. (You can't see it in this picture, but Noah was ready for bed, in his Thomas the Train pajamas and John Deere cowboy boots. LOL He thinks he needs to wear those things all day long!!! LOL) BTW, now I need to make Noah a boy doll with some different clothes on. He cried when I had to package him up today and take him to the post office. I told him Ron had to go to sleep in his sleeping bag! LOL He was so heartbroken about it though.

And today, I finished it. It turned out pretty well I think. This will be sent out in a day or two to my swap partner in Kansas. She made me a cute little sock monkey pin cushion that I decided to show you all as well. First the one I made:
And now the one she made for me: (I named her Lola!)
06:26 - Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - comments {2} - post commentHow about a frilly apron for your little princess???Usually I keep this blog for craftiness and sewing that I myself have made, but I am making an exception today. LMSO I had a friend who decided she wanted to try her hand at making a frilly apron I had seen on the net, for my 5 year old neice Mindi. It is super adorable and SOOOO SIMPLE! So I thought I would show you all the pics and maybe inspire you to make one for yourself, or your little princess! As you can see, she made a simple apron shape and then added a coordinating fabric ruffle on the top and the bottom of it, and finished it with pink ribbons for the neck and the waist tie. How cute!!!! If you decide to make one of your own, please let me know so I can see!!!!
Here is a close up of the fabric. Yes that is froggy fabric. I love it!!!
03:06 - Thursday, January 8, 2009 - comments {4} - post commentSome of my projects in their "new home" LOLI recently had a swap partner who wanted some throw pillows for her living room. She showed me pictures of her living room and I bought come super cute fabric and for the first time in my life, decided to try a pillow cover (she said she could stuff them, since that would cut down on shipping) with...............A ZIPPER!!!!!!!!! Shock! First time I have ever worked with sewing a zipper, and it wasn't nearly as awful as I thought it would be! LOL Here is a pic of the pillocovers, before I sent them to her:
And here are the pics she just sent me showing me the action shots sitting on her couch!
She loved the fabric and her boyfriend told her the pillows I made matched better than the ones she tried to make for the room. LMSO
10:05 - Friday, December 19, 2008 - comments {0} - post commentMore Crafty Goodness: A Small Fabric DollhouseHello all. I have been at it again. Crafting and sewing up a storm. LOL These following things are for a swap in which we craft or sew things for each other's children. I was so excited to see the tutorial for the dollhouse on my partner's wish list that I decided to make her one as well as one for my neice for Christmas. The felt items were also on her wish list, one for each child. So, here are the pics!! These are the three felted notebook covers and pencil pouches she requested.
And here are some pics of the fabric doll house I made for her little girl!! This is the front of the house with a front door (and a bluebird above it), and window made from felt added on. The red on the top is the ribbon handles.
Here is the side of the house. As you can tell it closes with loops (made from small hair ties) and buttons.
Here is a picture of the house opened up to see the inside. The green portion is to resemble the garden outside. How cute huh???
And another pic of the whole house!!!
Interested in making a fabric dollhouse for a sweet little girl in your family??? Here is the online tutorial I used. http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2008/08/fabric_dollhouse_tutorial.html?CMP=OTC-5JF307375954 In some areas it was a little hard to understand what she was talking about, but I can honestly say I muddled through. If anyone is interested in making it, and gets confused, please feel free to message me and I can see if I can help!!! I seriously want to be a littl girl so I can make myself one to play with. LMSO 03:13 - Friday, November 28, 2008 - comments {1} - post commentThe Black Apple DollsI realized tonight that I completely forgot to post pics of one of my favorite recent projects. I got the pattern online, and ended up making two at once. One for a friend and the other for my neice for her birthday. The blonde one will be my neices in a few more days. I hope she loves it. I even have one in the works for myself! LMSO
10:17 - Tuesday, November 25, 2008 - comments {2} - post commentThe new owner of the Christmas apron I madeI recently made a Christmas apron for a swap partner and she finally received it in the mail today. Here is my friend Ellen Marie in her new apron!! She is so excited about it, because she found out she will be hosting a large Christmas dinner at her house and looks forward to wearing her new apron while doing so!!!
11:26 - Monday, November 24, 2008 - comments {2} - post commentSome cute wintery shirts I madeI made these two matching long sleeve tshirts for a swap partner who had a 4 and a 2 year old. The only pic I have is this one (sent it and forgot to take any, so this is one she took) which includes two fingerpuppet kits I inclided in her package for her little girls. These shirts were SO easy to make. I just cut the bottom off of the smaller one (it was a snap-crotch shirt), and made the ruffle and sewd it on!! SIMPLE! The girls love Dora and they loved their whole package! And on to the pic:
11:21 - Monday, November 24, 2008 - comments {3} - post commentMy first try at ZIPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am in a swap online, and my swap partner has specifically requested throw pillows for her living room couch. We made a deal that if I make the pillow covers, she will buy the inserts for them if I make them a standard size. That way the shipping won't be so costly. I hope she loves them!!! The fabric was on her wish list, so I think she will. And the bonus is, zippers are not that hard!! I am thinking of buying some smaller zippers and making some wristlets and makeup bags sometime soon!!
Here is a pic:
And here is a close up of the fabric:
12:22 - Friday, November 21, 2008 - comments {2} - post commentI finally made myself an apron!! IT"S MINE!! ALL MINE!!!I have been sewing and crafting for others so much lately (and I honeslty do enjoy it), but decided the other day to take 15 minutes to spend on my own apron. I have had this apron laying in a stack on my sewing table 1/2 way done for 2 months or so now. LMSO Sad isn't it??? But alas, it is done, and I love it!!!!
Here is a pic:
12:19 - Friday, November 21, 2008 - comments {4} - post commentMY CHRISTMAS APRON IS FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!Actually this one is not really mine. I made it for someone in an Apron swap. She is hosting a large Christmas party and wanted a "nice" apron to wear for company, etc. I hope she likes this one. The good part??? I have enough extra fabric to make me one just like it! *Excited* You can't tell in these pictures because of the black fabric, but it is pleated down about 5 inches and then a full skirt. I got the pattern from a Christmas family who runs a business out of their home. Here is a link to their company, which sells patterns and the most beautiful fabrics ever! ( I bought my fabric elsewhere because I was looking for something specific, but they seriously have some gorgeous fabric!)
Don't you love the fabrics???? Here is another:
And here is a close up on the fabric:
09:30 - Monday, November 17, 2008 - comments {7} - post commentAnother Tshirt Dress....This Time For WinterI finished up on another tshirt dress several days ago for my neice, Mindi for her 5th birthday. This thing is going to be so warm. It is a red long sleeve tshirt with heavey plaid flannel on the bottom. I made the skirting extra full because she likes to twirl. LOL Here is a picture of the whole dress:
And here is a close up picture of the skirt fabric:
09:26 - Monday, November 17, 2008 - comments {3} - post commentT-Shirt DressesI have been making some super simple dresses for my 5 year old neice for her birthday and one I made her last summer as well. She absolutely loves them, and all her little friends are asking her where she got the first one (she hasn't received the winter version just yet) I have to give credit where credit is due. I got the idea from Crystal, over at HomemakersHomestead. Here is the link to her tutorial on making the dress: http://www.thefamilyhomestead.com/tshirtdress.html The first dress I made I just picked up a cheap little t-shirt at Wal-Mart. I already had the fabric in my stash, and wondered if my neice Mindi, would like it, but she adores it!!!! In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if she wears it this fall and winter with a long sleeve t under it. LMSO It did turn out cute, I think. (I sewed the lady bug button in different sizes on the t-shirt as an after thought. I just so happen to have them in my stash as well!)
And here is a close up of the Buggy fabric I used on the skirt. How adorable!!
02:32 - Monday, November 17, 2008 - comments {1} - post commentThe simpliest and most unique apron I have seen!!! (With Tutorial!!)This is what I call the Famous Butt Apron. I have blogged about it here at HSB before, and when I celebrated my 300th post (on my other blog) a lucky gal received one for a giveaway!!!! (the pink one shown below) Instead of posting the same post here and going through all the trouble of posting the pictures here, I have decided to leave you with a link to it here instead!! http://www.homesteadblogger.com/gabbie427/104952/
Since posting this on my blog, I have made several of these aprons for friends, and plan on making several more for Christmas presents. I love the simplicity of them, but most are shocked at the uniqueness.
And here are a few more of these aprons that I have made:
02:24 - Monday, November 17, 2008 - comments {1} - post commentA Brand New Crafty Blog!!Hi all!!! Many of you know me as Amy Jo from Mindless Jibber Jabber, or AKA Gabbie427. (My other blog can be found at: www.homesteadblogger.com/gabbie427). Tonight I decided to start a new blog (in addition to the other one, no friends I am not closing the other one) to write and feature pictures, and tutorials of my craftiness. Now, I am not a perfect seamstress, cross sticher, embroider person (what would you call them?), etc. I dabble with many things, and have learned so much from my own mother, friends, family, and of course the great big world of the internet!!!! I am a beginner/moderate sewer I suppose. And I can't asy I make each and every embroidery stitch or cross stirch perfect, but I can hold my own. And I certainly impress my non-crafty friends and family. LOL It isn't hard though when they don't know how to pick up a needle or how to sew a straight line on a sewing machine. If I inspire someone to try something new, that's great!! But this blog is not being written for that. It is my own digital diary of my craft projects. You are welcome to come visit anytime you want, take patterns I may have on here, etc. And please, don't be afraid to ask questions. If I don't have the answers at least I will be honest with you about it. LOL So, without further ado..........I will be making a few posts tonight and tomorrow on simple sewing projects I have finished in the last year. If you have followed my other blog for any length of time, you may remember seeing them. 02:17 - Monday, November 17, 2008 - comments {0} - post comment |
