TA DA....

Posted By Rustic Wheel Acres in Around the HomeStead

Ok I promised a few days ago that I would introduce you all to another animal of the property that just seemed to adopt us, but truly I think its the other way around because she is just now getting used to us and will follow us around to see what we are up too on "her land". So without further ado here is our newest adoption....

                      TRISKET
(we named her that as the sellers only called her pony)

She is quite wet from being out in the rain all day and night, and will only go into her makeshift pen, when we go to feed her, even if we keep the gate open.... such a silly girl...

You are amazing, God

Posted By Tan

First of all, have any of you ever used the Balancing the Sword bible study? What a super study. We are learning so much. He says in the beginning that you can usually get through a book in a year, but we started 3 weeks ago and are in the first chaper of John. I do think we'll start going faster in time, but we've not really read much from Isaiah and the prophets before so we're really digging in. How amazing our Creator is. I am learning along with my kiddos about trinity and also about our salvation. I used to be with the "once saved always saved" group, but then when we were attending the Mennonite church for all those years, they challenged my thinking. So, I'm back on the fence, but researching...and listening to the Holy Spirit.

Also, this marketing class is tough, but doable. I'm getting ready to turn in my first assignment. Although I don't think I will have all the answers as well as most, I do think I can hold my own....and learn SO MUCH! Goodness, what a knowledgable and encouraging group of ladies! If I gain nothing else from this, I think I will love my encouragement. I hope I can encourage others as well.

BTW, some of you have inquired about my chickens....yes, they are in the freezer with the pig. It was not so bad, but it's not something a person wants to do often. We're going to be eating moose awhile as I'm just not ready to boil up one of my girls yet. And the pig is.....well....it's just too fresh, too. ((sigh)) What happened to me lately? I'm such a softie. I mean, I've never enjoyed the killing process, and my husband has protected me from most of it. I only help out once the animal is unrecognizable. But lately, well, they still look like my chickens...

Oh, one more thing. I'd love input on this. I have tons of meat left over from last year. It's a mix of moose and our cow. It's steaks, stew meat, and maybe even a roast or two, I can't remember. Anyway, Gene's moose was much bigger this year, plus we have our pig and the chickens, so I really needed to do something creative with our older meat. Gene suggested just grinding it up. We never seem to have enough burger when it's all said and done. But what I did instead, as  a trial, was to fill up all three crock pots with meat and season them differently. One was taco meat, another was just seasoned meat for stroganoff or soups, etc. The third was not seasoned much, and I put bbq sauce on it and cooked it down. Golly, what a blessing to have that in the freezer. It made 17 stuffed full quart bags of meat. And I have another batch just like it to go. With this batch, I'll do taco meat again, the bbq one again, and a seasoned one, but with onions and bell peppers with it. Sound good? If anyone else has ideas, I'd love to hear them. Having cooked meat in the freezer will be so nice when we have weeks like the one we have coming up:-)

God Bless You, Everyone! Have a super week!

Its Like Hitting the Nail on the Head...or is that the Foot

Posted By Rustic Wheel Acres in Me Myself And I

I must confess that amongst all the crazy things I have done, this one is the most painful. Saturday while helping a friend from church tear down her old well house(it was caving in) I managed to step on a rusty nail...Yikes  Although for the most part it didnt hurt just more of a Ahh man I gotta go get a tetnus shot(20 years since I last had one, and that too was for a nail in the foot)... I resorted to being driven to the hospital but not with out hitting the drive thru at sonic for their happy hour drink specials.... ha haha Go orange juice slushes, and a caramel java chiller!... Now before you go and scold me, I am most glad we got me the drinks as it would be 3 hours in the ER before I was to be released... During that time though my friend was happy as she got to watch the OU vs Texas college football game on the big screen tv they had in the ER room...

With one Tetnus shot, a few X rays, and a couple of Meds later I was out the door and ready to conquer some more of the well house....Only to have our Pastor(who lives not far from up the road from either of my friend and I, tell us no more ladies until you can get the following materials to re build this well house. What a bummer.

Now the pain, where is the pain you maybe asking for my foot, after all it was a puncture wound....Well the pain didnt come until Sunday, and boy does it HURT...its a constant dull throbbing pain and it will be nice when it heals. Now amongst all this I am wondering what in the world or better yet how in the world am I going to move along in the cleaning with this house of mine.... and still get the school lessons done... Tada a new plan! Well actually its a plan that I have thought about for a few days now, and with the inspiration I got from looking at other folks schedules I thought I could prayerfully consider and ask if it would be ok to make some of those mine as well... But as I can see I am already running over my computer time limit, so I will have to share with you the schedule at another time....Until we meet again.....Have a Great Day....

Concerning Self Denial

Posted By GrandmaRosie in THE WORD

Concerning Self Denial

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 16:24-26 NIV

Need To Breath

Posted By Becky Lynn

This song is sooo amazing!! It has touched my life in a way that only few songs can.
I hope you find it just as amazing and powerful!

Dont ever forget that when you mess up and life brings the strom and you feel as if nothing you do is the right thing and no one is who they said they were and you dont even know you who are...

You can be washed by the water
You can become clean and whole again
For we are saved my Grace...Not works.

Tell Me What You Know

The Family by Choux
all posters

Good Morning,

I am still quite busy from the move and so my internet time will be limited for a while until routines are set into a somewhat normal pace so forgive me if I disappear from time to time. And speaking of time the date range we are looking at to be having our house ready to be seen  by the case worker is a goal of the 17th... so for those of you that are foster/ adoptive parents who have gone through the process of home inspecting, any tips or suggestions you might want to share with me about that particular process? Are there any areas of my home that I should be extra diligent on cleaning/tidyness? How about my property, now that I am on 4 acres will there be a need for me to make sure there is nothing outta sorts, like old fence boards that are in a pile?

I am not stressing to much....wait let me re word that, I dont want to bring on any more stress than necessary to myself or the kids, and want to at least come to this home inspection with confidence that will show that Jason, myself and our two children are ready to take on such a serious duty to raise other members of the family.

Well thats it for today as far as my post goes and if you can help me with any of those questions that would be great until I meet with you again ...Remember children are a blessing from the LORD no matter the circumstances on how you get them......

Stay Blessed and Praise the Lord Always for your gifts in life.

JEANNIE
