Blessings!

My husband and I have designed our "dream home" over the last 10 years. Lots of drawings, lots of ideas and lots of prayer and talking things over:)

I love the idea of having a large kitchen that not only will be open and filled with lots of cupboards and space, an island/workstation and a place for a nice large harvest table:) And I won't even get into the decoration ideas:)

I designed my dream go-down. My husband has designed his dream office. We both have designed the floor plan of the rest of the house, complete with the place and types of windows, doors. archways, closets and the list goes on.

Then there's the bathrooms! I love a huge bathroom. We both agreed that a bathroom should be spacious, and we don't want anything "fixed" like cupboards and such. We love the idea of using armoire's as closets and linen cupboards etc. The only thing I could never really decide on was where the best places for the "equipment" would be:P

We moved into this place and with more animals and more farming opportunities. More land means more time outside and what wonderful fun! I enjoy getting dirty and being an active part of our lovely farmstead and praying that one day we will have one that we own for our very selves and can do just what we want:)

Anyway, to get back to my bathroom...it dawned on me just yesterday, as I was dealing with the animals alone. My girls had gone to their friends for the night and I had to do the morning animal tasks myself. I don't mind it, in fact, I find it peaceful and comforting as I was meandering through the barn and pens getting animals fed, eggs gathered, filling waters and just taking care of business.

As some of you know, having a few children (8) sometimes when you gotta go, you gotta go! Well this hit me while out in the Niger pen which is also about an acre away! I can't run so I shuffled as fast as I could to get in the house. Mind you my hands are just ick with the feed, petting goats, having gathered eggs already (and we all know that eggs aren't always the cleanest) so I slip into the bathroom as quickly as I can.

The dilemma comes, not on how to get ON the potty but how to get OFF:P My hands...ew! Hmmm...what's a gal to do? Ooooooooooooh, so THAT'S why they design bathrooms with the sink so close to the toilet...see where I'm going with it now?:P

The wonders of modern conveniences:) Not that I haven't ever had to deal with outhouses, but indoor plumbing is a blessing on many levels...getting clean hands so one is not "stranded" is just one of them...but an important one for sure:)

So, while we are designing our bathrooms in our "dream house" we will make sure that the sinks are located conveniently. My husband winks at me and says, "with all that you've thought you wanted in our dream home...aren't you glad some things are done in certain ways?" Yep I sure am!

So that's my silly post for tonight. I'm sleepy, bad head so I took my head medicine and I think I"ll just lay it down and say another prayer of thanx for well designed bathrooms:)

God be with thee!

I never thought of that. The sink being so close:)

I lived in a mobil home once where it was set up like that. It's not a grand as one would think, lol. (too close for comfort you might say)
I have a very weak bladder and have been in the same situation you were in, once your there now what. I keep a box of baby wipes near the potty for situations such as that. They come in quite handy.............Kitty
PS love your plan for the kitchen. I too would love a big open floor plan of a kitchen with an isle. Love it!
