Blessings!

Well, it's getting near that time again...SOAPING! I try to get our soaping done before the weather turns too hot as it's very difficult to hang over hot things when it's...well...HOT:P

I actually do what is called a "cold process". I love our soaps:P When I learned how to do it with one of my best friends and business partner...get this...ON IM! Yep..on intant messenger! Too funny. Anyway, my first batch turned out beautifully and after 6 weeks of curing it was the best soap I've ever had and I haven't bought a single bar of store soap since! That was almost 5 years ago:P

Not only does out soap have all natural ingredient (did you know that lye actually IS a natural ingredient?) but it works in such wonderful ways on each of us.

Our Mary-Ann has suffered with exzema since she was very little. Just awful stuff. Anyway, this soap keeps her skin from doing that now and any time she has an outbreak (which isn't often at all and only small patches now and then) she just uses it twice as often and it goes away:)

We made some last summer with the help of my dear friend CaraDD and we added a few things into them that have made them a bit different. For instance we put in rose petals and rosemary in one. It smells so nice and the rose petals act as an exfoliate. Then we did one with lavender and purple flowers for color. And the third was Sassafras. A more many smelling bar:)

CaraDD and I want to try doing the whole hot process this summer. She and I have never done that one before so it will be a new experience for me:) I am excited to learn that and I"m sure we will have a great time:)

Oh, did I mention that I made goatmilk soap too? That one is a great bar! It works well as a shampoo bar too so if we are out of shampoo we can always use that one:)

I expect to hear from the locals here about their farmers market and their rules and regs. We want to try selling there this year but it will depend on their restrictions and if they have space enough for us to join them. We will have plenty to sell this year and if worse comes to worse, we can hang a shingle out at the road and they can come here to buy:)

Now if it would warm up the ground enough so we can get the seeds in the ground:P

Have a very blessed week!

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

Oh that sounds so interesting. I have been wanting to learn how to make my own soap too, as my son has very bad eczema and I thought it might help. Do you know of a good 'how to' book? I've been looking on amazon, but there are so many I don't know which would be a good one.

I wanting to learn how to make soap. We currently purchase it from a local family, but it gets so expensive ($5 a bar!). So, I've decided it's time to start making my own. My husband is really sensitive to most soaps, but homemade doesn't bother him. He is especially sensitive to laundry detergent. So, I've been making my own for a while, from soap I purchase. DH and I are planning on making our first batch as soon as we can locate some lye...there's no place around here that sell it anymore, we would have to mail order or drive 1-1/2 hours to get it. I have an aquantance who makes soap and I think she's going to give us some to get us started on our first batch.

Hugs & Blessings!
