Only for the Grace of God!:)Blessings! Last night, after searching and searching in the freezing cold and snow for a wayward horse and the dirty dozen (ducks), we turned in for the night just sick about it all. I got some warm dry clothes on (I was chilled to the bone), came into my bedroom and went down to my knees by the bed. I was quick and to the point. I said, "Lord I know this is unimportant but if you could find it in your heart to answer this prayer with a YES and it be your will, would you please bring Mr. Smith back to us? Oh, I would still like the ducks back but I understand if that doesn't happen, but at least Mr. Smith." That was it. Simple. To the point. And I didn't end my prayer because I figured I should leave it open ended in case I needed to add anything later:P This morning we woke up to no Mr. Smith, no ducks, some ice still on the ground and dark skies. I kept looking out my bedroom window to see if Mr. Smith had wandered home but still nothing. I also had woken up with a migraine:( It was a long morning for me. After LOTS of HEAVY medication, I was just beginning to feel it all take affect and I got up to use the potty. Brother Craig and Miss Mary-Ann had left for the old place, leaving Miss Sarah here to take care of me. I was getting back into bed when I thought to take another peek out the window. No Mr. Smith but the chickens were all in the henyard. I turned to get back into bed when it occured to me...hold the phone...I looked again and THOSE WEREN'T CHICKENS!!! THE DUCKS WERE HOME!!! I just couldn't believe it! I called out to Miss Sarah who ran out there and did a headcount. They are all there! Even our Miss Adelaide! We were so excited! Those ducks weren't anywhere! Not anywhere! We combed every last inch of these 7 acres including the 11 acres on the one side of us and the 5 acres on the other. We combed miles of riverfront. Not a single duck (domestic OR wild) in sight. Then here, all of a sudden, after already having found that they were still missing this morning, they appear! Seemingly out of nowhere! God is so amazing! My head was feeling so much better (although not completely gone), and the meds were making me really loopy (and munchy):P Miss Sarah had gone out to make sure the ducks were secured and all the animals were fed, waters broken through, feeders filled, eggs found etc. I was able to sit up for the first time without pounding pain and was going to try to read a little scripture when Miss Sarah come racing in the door. SHE THINKS SHE FOUND SMITH! I got up and walked with her to the fence and sure enough, there in the pasture of the neighbors on the parallel street, was Mr. Smith! (they really mean it when they say don't drive while under the influence of this medication:P) I grabbed my hood and coat, Miss Sarah grabbed his treats and lead and we drove over to get him. AFter having a nice conversation with the folks that found him last night, Miss Sarah walked him home. Thankfully, I didn't have to drive very fast so I could keep an eye on Miss Sarah and make sure she (and Smith) made it home safely. That road was definitely moving:P Needless to say, the Grace of God is all sufficient! I let it go and trusted Him to do whatever it was that He was going to do, whether I liked the outcome or not:) He is so wonderfully amazing. I don't know why I am alway amazed at what He chooses to do in my life. The smallest things, the things that I wouldn't think to bother Him with. But EVERYTHING is important to Him when it comes to one of His children. Just as everything is important when it come to the happiness and well being of my own children. Thank you Lord! And thank you to all of you that left such wonderful words of encouragment and all those prayers that I know were said on our behalf. I am going to lay down for awhile and take a nap. The medication is definitely making me sleepy:) God be with thee! Sister Lori { Last Page } { Page 88 of 230 } { Next Page } |
