Another unplanned day:PBlessings! Well, as is usually the case, our day did NOT go as "planned":P It's not surprising and we've learned over the years to roll with the punches. Actually it's been all week that things haven't gone as planned. It started with Sunday. We made a quick trip and came home that evening in the snow. It came down rather fast and hard. Let's just say it wasn't here when we left:P On our way to the old house we were passed on the opposite side of the interstate by a snow plow. Now we don't have a great call for those in our area but now and then there's a need (or a possible one). My husband and I looked at each other and shrugged it off. We headed back home just before dark. I don't do well in the dark due to night blindness so I like to be home before it's dark. Anyway, we got about half way there when it started to lightly snow. Our boy was ahead of us by a few miles and phoned us on the cell and told us to be careful and take a back road as the snow was coming down pretty hard. We did and boy are we glad. By the time we got about 10 miles from home we couldn't see the lines in the road and even the semi trucks were travelling at 30 mph! We followed one as we felt it was safer that way:) Once home, we unloaded and snuggled in for a cold night. Monday morning we decided to give it a try and make a run for the old house. My son, who had driven back earlier in the morning phoned just before we left and said we might want to rethink coming and save it for the next day instead. We decided to give it a try anyway. On the way out we did a little sliding dance on the bridge at the end of the road and got ourselves on the road. We got to the house and loaded up a bit. The reports on the radio said more snow so we packed it up early and headed for home. It was snowing when we got here but at least the ice had thawed on the bridge and we were fine. I was going to try another trip since it was early and didn't look like the snow would get worse but I began to feel a little icky. That night I felt just awful and went to bed early. Tuesday I was up early and made it as far as the lounger in the front room:( My stomach was awful, my head was killing me and I couldn't seem to stay awake. I decided that maybe I shouldn't try the trip and put it off. The girls took care of things and I slept nearly all day. Waking up long enough to get a hug and take another pain pill for the head. We were bound at home for Wednesday and Thursday because we were expecting folks to come by. Although I was feeling better my head still ached a bit. Wednesday I was expecting the plumber out to fix the toilet (it was wobbly and leaking). After spending several days trying to balance on a weeble toilet we phoned the landlady who had the plumber phone us right away. He came out and did a few things but wasn't able to fix it and phoned for another plumber who had better tools and more experience. And we had a wonderful visit with CaraDD and the children. I always enjoy their visits so much. The new plumber came out later in the afternoon and did a few things but found he needed a part that he couldn't get locally and said he'd be back the next morning with it. So we spent the night running out to the camper to use that toilet:P The Lord blessed us greatly with that camper:) Thursday, the plumber phoned and said he was running behind schedule and he would be here in 30 minutes (that was at 11am) He showed up at 2:30 pm:P In the meantime, the phone tech had come and we had internet again!:), Brother Craig came home from work and we had supper and the plumber finally left at 6:30pm! But...we had a toilet again!:) This morning we were going to head to the old house and get a lot done and be home in time to unload and fall into bed exhausted but accomplished:) However, we overslept, had a late breakfast, and took off later than expected. Once we got there we got a phonecall that Brother Craig had a check waiting for him (he was doing some consulting with the fire department last year). We had seen that the goats weren't eating very well and were dropping weight. We figured it was because they were missing us (our son is staying at his friends and he was feeding them for us while we were gone) so we decided to go pick up the check, deposit it (definitely Gods hand in this as that money was greatly needed), pick up a few tools and pull some posts and wire, pick up our friends horse trailer, loaded up the goats, posts, fencing and tools and headed back to the house. Needless to say, we didn't have anything resembling "a load", left the truck at the old house and drove back together in the Excursion with the goats in tow:P They are now housed quite snuggly in the barn:P Oh, did I mention we were going to be breeding at the beginning of February? Well, our "Man of Mystery" decided to change our plans:P We had no choice but to transport him in the same trailer with the does. He wasted no time at all before we had even left the driveway! Silly boy:P So he's now snuggling with his little harem out in the barn tonight and the little Nigers are safely behind a tall stall door:) Thankfully he didn't get ahold of any of them and we'd like to keep it that way. Tomorrow? Who knows! I know what MY plans are but as my mother always says..."Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans":) Lord willing we'll have the rest of the move finished up and Sunday we'll build pens:) Monday and Tuesday the girls and I will go do the final cleaning of the old house, Thursday our boy gets married, and we'll head home for the last time:) Well, I'll share some pictures tomorrow once we get the chance to snap some:) Have a very blessed and safe weekend! God be with thee! Sister Lori { Last Page } { Page 99 of 226 } { Next Page } |
