Blessings!

Well, I've slipped on posting these days. Brother Craig says I'm not listening to the Lords whispers and I need to get back to it:) Soooooooooo, here I am giving it another go:P Sharing, caring, encouraging, and being blessed by others here on HomesteadBlogger:)

First let me say, our weekend was wonderful. Brother Craig is back with us for weekends again and this means fellowship Sundays too! It was so terrific to have him back with us and everyone at fellowship let him know how missed he is:) Lord willing, he won't need to work weekends again:)

On Saturdays here we have a little country auction just a few miles down the road. It's like a giant barn sale with bidders:P Fun folks, good food and lots of treasures:)

Last month our dining table literally fell apart in my lap one night at supper:P I kid you not! (hahahaha *snort*) We were sitting at supper when suddenly something hit my knee so hard I nearly fell out of my chair! Then the table began to wobble and listed to one side:P We saved most of the dishes and food before it collapsed. We finished supper on a blanket on the floor of the frontroom:D Picnic!

The next day we finished dismanteling the table and stored it in the garage thinking we might fix it. I looked around the garage to see three of the 8 chairs awaiting their turn to have the rungs fixed on them. Rungs that had to be retooled because these were irreparable. Hmmmmm.

I realized it was probably hopeless or at least not something that was going to happen anytime soon so the girls and I moved the patio table and chairs into the kitchen:) Stone top table with wicker and iron chairs. Not exactly my indoor taste at all but it was cheaper than trying to replace our table and chairs. Done!

Saturday, Brother Craig bid on and won a sweet country table and chairs:) The auction house manage to get ahold of floor models from a furniture store. New but not "new":) If that wasn't enough he also won a floor model mattress/boxspring set as ours is in great need of replacement:s And just to top it off he also won a beautiful wingback recliner and ottoman for me:) It is a chair I have wanted for a very long time but just couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money on. These are all new, no scratches or dents or stains. Floor models that a store couldn't sell because this stores policy is to sell to damaged freight places. Since they can't sell them as "new" they get rid of them for a pittance. Our auctionhouse buys these lots and offers them to folks like us who will appreciate them:)

They also had two sleighbeds, three buffets, two china cabinets and lots of dressers, loveseats, and sofas:) In the middle of all that they also had the little things that I enjoy finding like antique teacups/saucers, matching pieces to my dishes, craft supplies and everything in between:)

The table and chairs were 85.00, wingback recliner/ottoman was 75.00 and the mattress set was 90.00. I was so excited because we had saved for a long time to purchase these items at some point (when we found what we really wanted) and now we have more than half of the money left over!

Brother Craig also took us barn saleing earlier Saturday before the auction and we had such fun finding some things we could put to good use here:) He found a lovely oil lamp with shade for just 2.50 for my desk in the frontroom where I do my letter writing:) He also found a goat disbudder for 30.00 (I can't remember the brand but I do remember it was much more than 30 new) and a bander for just 4.00:) And Mary-Ann found a lovely little antique chair in great condition for just 2.00:)

The girls want me to take pictures of all of these things and post them here to share them. I will try to get that done tomorrow, time permitting:)

The best thing of all, however, was the fact that Brother Craig was home with us. It was such a treat to have him be with us and share our days with us again. I miss him so terribly when he has to be away. I feel very lost when he's gone. By the time the children and I adjust to his absence he is home again only to leave us to adjust once again:s

I know the Lord has a plan in all this and I look to Him for strength and endurance to face this season. We await His next step for our family:) We continue to look for a home to move to so that we can all be together every night instead of just weekends but so far nothing has come of it. The Lord has a special place intended for us and so we patiently continue to seek it and wait on Him to let us know when we've finally found it:)

Have a very blessed evening! I look forward to coming again tomorrow evening to share and be blessed again:)

God be with thee!

It's always a blessing to hear from you! I've kind of been neglecting my blog, but "real life" sure keeps one busy, doesn't it? I had to chuckle at your table story. You see, one Thanksgiving, as our entire family was gathered at the table, it decided to collapse. People were scrambling everywhere to catch falling items and after the chaos, we noticed that my grandpa had continued eating through the whole event! (He enjoyed eating and wasn't about to let something like that spoil the meal for him!) I can't wait to see your pictures. It sounds like you got some fantastic buys! I'm still standing with you in prayer about a new home. I can't wait to see how the Lord will work this out for you. :o)

Yay for you! That must have been the entertainment after I saw you. :) I'm so glad Craig is on a normal schedule, even if it's temporary. Talk to you soon!
