Blessings!

Well payday was yesterday and so we all know that THAT means...pay the bills!:) I am so blessed to be nearly debt free. I say that because for the first time in 12 years we have a car payment:( It was a really hard decision for us but prayerfully we knew that we needed something that was more reliable than we had and knew that we would need it for a long time. Something that wouldn't be outdated in a year or two because we always do the same things:) What I mean is, we have a 32 foot camper that we tried to pull with our 12 passenger van...an oooooooold van...a loyal van...ugh:s It blew up on the highway one day while taking off for a family reunion. We never made it to the reunion and the poor thing sort of looked pitiful in the back drive for over a year before we were able to repair it. Once it was repaired the man we bought the parts from said not to pull anything more than our utility trailer with it because the engine really just couldn't handle the load on hills. So that was it for our trusty van. There's a wonderful story that goes along with getting our new car (a 2001 Excursion) but that's for a different post:)

Anyway, we paid bills yesterday and did all the regular stuffs that needed doing. We pay cash for everything so it's nice to have all the companies local like the phone company, electric company etc. We don't really shop much but decided that we wanted to do a little second chance marketing:)

I will take some pictures and add them later but I wanted to share our little treasures.

First, I found a beautiful little handmade quilt in RaggedyAnn and Andy. They had edged it and backed it with some nice heavy flannel for $2.75. It's a crib size and Theron loves to cuddle it:) I also found this playdough station thing that does all kinds of things. It has an extractor to make long worm length shapes (stars, rounds, squares, triangles etc) and it came with some molds to make flowers, troll looking critters, shapes and other such things and some tools for making cuts and designs in the playdough for $1.25. Morgan loves it:) Sarah discovered a little wooden box with a sliding lid with shapes cut into it. Inside were wooden blocks that are those shapes for $0.45. And Mary-Ann found a little wooden block set that has pictures on all sides to make 6 different puzzle pictures for $0.65. And just as we were leaving Mary-Ann noticed an old trunk. We looked at it closely and I believe it's about 1920 or so. It's all wooden with hammered tin and tacked with brads. There are wooden strips tacked over the tin and the inside has the beautiful paper decal designs in it. Papa will need to make a new hinged lid for inside the lid and she can then put her antique reproduction papers over it to tie it all in. It's just beautiful...well, except that they had painted it over all that beautiful tin so we are going to carefully strip it and refinish it properly. It was only $35! She was so excited:) And of course, Sarah found another teacup and saucer for her collection:)

Well, I just wanted to share:)

God be with thee!

Every Friday here is payday, and by Saturday, I am looking for Friday again....I love to go to the thrift stores also..What neat things we find as treasures...Debbie

~~We are blessed to have only one payday each month. This way I only need go out once a month:) I also like not having to do our regular marketing but once every couple months.
We do enjoy barn sale-ing and second chance shoppes:) Sometimes we don't find anything but it was fun just to go on the hunt:)
God be with thee!

I love that you call it "second chance". I scolded my grown dd yesterday because she mentioned to me that she had thrown a beautiful rug in the trash because their new little puppy had did his thing on it a few times. "YOU WHAT?" She could have offered it to me, it was a beautiful wool rug with pink and cream flowers on it, I loved it. Now she had only paid a couple of dollars for it at the thrift store and had had it for over a year, so she felt that she had gotten her money's worth out of it.
I told her it could have been cleaned some how and used longer. And even if she didn't want it anymore it could have been given a "second chance" with someone else, namely ME. LOL
Just thought I would share that.
Kitty

~~The fun thing about wool rugs is that they can be painted on so if you have stains you can just paint something over them:)
Another thing I do for those area rugs is soak them in water with a bit too much fabric softener. It acts like scotch guarding and smells better:)
I tend to get a lot of cast-offs from my mother and neighbors:P Most stuffs end up at the mission but a few things get a new life here:)

God be with thee!

Hi.. Well sounds like you had and great day yesterday except paying the bills.I also pd bills yesterday. Don't you just hate a car payment?I do I just got my first one after 14years.But its nice to have a car you can depend on. Sounds like everybody found a treasure can't wait to see them..haflinger

~~I am always so blessed that it only takes one day and then it's over till next month. And yes, I just bog down inside over that car payment:s It will be over in 4 years...ugh! Probably sooner because we pay more than the regular payment to pay down the principa faster. I just dislike paying interest.
I'll have those pictures in a day or so:) I have sooooooo many pictures to download off my camera as Mary-Ann tends to fill up the SD card very quickly:)
God be with thee!
