Blessings!
This Saturday we spent the morning Barn Sale-ing:) It's a favorite summertime thing to do for us. Most times we don't come home with anything, it's more just for fun and something for us to do as a family.

Well, this Saturday we did indeed find some treasures! As you know we are going to be picking up our grandsons this coming Monday. One of them is only just 2 and still sleeps in a crib...my baby is 14 years old! So guess what WE didn't have? Yep! A crib!:P

We had such fun visiting literally dozens of barns and church bazaars:) on our quest to finding a few playthings for the youngest one. We were also keeping a lookout for a couple baby gates (we have a pool remember?), maybe a youthbed or at least a matress that we could put on the floor in our Sarah's room for him.

What we found was...Brother Craig found a beautiful white ironlike crib WITH a mattress (nearly new) for $5. Then he found me one of those bakers rack portable closets that I've need for my sewingroom also for $5.

We found at an old barn a vintage metal top (you remember those kind that have that twist hand on top that you pump to get it going on the linoleum cuz it won't spin anywhere else?):P for my daughters vintage toy collection (the lady gave it to her), a dutch enamelware coffee pot (not worth anything more than a decoration to hold my dried flowers and herbs) 25¢, a porcelain ginger grater 25¢, two sugar dolls (for our Sarah's antique doll collection) 50¢ for the pair, an vintage soap tin 25¢, and two little jade pigs 10¢ each.

We stopped at a little local market for some pop and water and then back on our treasure hunt.

The next barn we stormed we found a 5 gallon Campbell Soups tin bucket and two glass cracker containers that matched. They were reproductions but sweet nonetheless:) all for just 75¢.

The last stop we made was  when we took a wrong road and found a barn sale that wasn't even marked:) She said they hadn't thought to put up signs but it hadn't stopped folks from finding them:P We purchased a brand new wetblanket pad for the crib and a brandnew set of crib sheets, a much needed dish drainer (have you seen those new?ugh!) and a copper tea kettle with hand painted porcelain handle and whistler topper all for $1.

So for a days fun for our family and $13.10. We were pleased with our finds:)

All useful items (with the exception of the vintage toy and dolls):) God was so good to bring us to find the items we will need when the boys are here and other items that we will put to good use:)

Anyway, I just wanted to share our Saturday with you:)

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

I love those tops. My grandparents still have the one I played with at their house. I would love to find one at a yard sale!! It sounds like your family had a wonderful day and found some great treasures.
All for His glory, ~Rhen
