Blessings From Heavenly Acres!

   This is the newest addition to our little farm. Well, at least temporarily. This little thing fell from it's nest in our eves. The nest is actually in between the eves and the attic area and we felt it would be impossible to put it back without having it either fall out again or have momma push it out cuz it doesn't have their scent anymore:(

   This isn't the first time we've done this and frankly we didn't think it would survive the first night. Well, we were wrong! Not only has it survived the last 4 days but it's down is disappearing quickly.

This is one of the surogate mothers giving it an afternoon feeding.

   Sometimes it needs a little encouragement to eat. Although NOW the thing opens it's little mouth wide and makes all kinds of noise any time the girls go into the room:)

   All full up and ready for a nap:)

   I am always amazed at how patient the children are when it comes to such things as this. It's not often that a wild baby bird will survive. Over the years we have learned quite a bit about what to do and how often to do it:) It much easier than most folks would imagine:)

   All in all, we are so very blessed with the ability to patiently and carefully try our hand at helping another fledgling take to it's wings. God is so wonderful to give us these opportunities to sacrifice and serve.

   Well, we are busy sewing our costumes for the birthday tea for CaraDD's middle daughter. It promises to be a very pleasant and blessed fellowship:) I best get back to help hem things:) After the day we've had, it's the only way I know to take my mind off things and refocus on good things:)

It's a type of sparrow that we have in great abundance around here. Sadly it didn't live. Although it had learned to eat rather well, it never seemed to recover physically from the fall it took from our eves to our deck below. We think the nest up there is empty now. The other babies have undoubtedly made off on their own.

I'm afraid it didn't make it. It never seemed to recover from it's initial fall from the eves to our deck below.
The girls named it Chance. As in, we were taking a chance that it might make it.
All part of country life and the girls have learned so much. Perhaps the next one (and there will most certainly be a next one) will survive, Lord willing:)
