Ever milk a skunk?
Blessings! This is our star milker Brandy. On a good day she gives us nearly 2 gallons of milk. It's rich, creamy, sweet and downright delicious:) She has a great disposition and love affection. Two days ago, we were in a hurry to get to our fellowship to drop off our Mary-Ann for her VBS duty. Our Sarah has been ill and so Mary-Ann has taken over the milking duties. Anyway, we pulled our Brandy onto the milkstand...more like she leaps up there to get her goodies in exchange for her allowing us to tug on her for that wonderful milk. She was her normal sweet self but being in a hurry we milked out quickly and I went to put her back and grab out Twister (our NOT so star milker) and bring her over. That's when it hit me...the most foul smell I've ever had the displeasure of inhailing:( I brought her around and she got up in her place on the stand and Mary-Ann says, "WHAT is that SMELL?" Then procedes to make comments on how stinky Twister is and boy does she need a bath. I'm standing there holding my breath and Mary-Ann says, "mom, why does that smell so familiar?" I said...well, we've driven past a few!!! She stops and looks at me, smells her hands and says with a rather sick look on her face, "Please tell me that's not skunk". I laughed, she laughed and poor Twister was milked even faster and cut short on her treat. This is our skunk:P It has been two days since this wonderful moment. Several bars of soap and some dry herb rub later, we got as much of the smell off our hands as possible and now it's Twisters turn. She's in for a good bath today. We've waited long enough for it to disipate enough that we could approach her without needing a vat of tomato sauce and a 4" firehose:P We have no idea why the other girls weren't skunked and I think the shunning that the other two are inflicting on poor Twister is beginning to effect her self esteem:P Silly goat. I wonder if she'll learn that those aren't her friend? Have a very blessed day! God be with thee! Sister Lori { Last Page } { Page 188 of 230 } { Next Page } |
