Whiskers?

Blessings!

Today was quite a productive day. Not that most days aren't productive but today it was more than just the routine tasks:) Today, we were able to get some much needed pattern making done, sewing projects started, goat hoofs trimmed, a couple more new eggs (the mystery chickens aren't stepping up and claiming them):P, weed whacking (we found the flowerbeds!), and our Mary-Ann went to help at our fellowship with the first day of VBS:)

Tomorrow we will be taking a couple of our milk goats to the fellowship to share with the children. We are taking up collections for the next several weeks to earn enough to purchase good milk goats for a small village in Haiti that our fellowship has set up missions in.

We all got showers, everybody smells nicer (a WHOLE other story goes with that:P) and we had a lovely evening together.

All the while something was lurking just waiting to loom it's ugly head. Unbeknownst to me (or any of the other family members) it would make itself known come bedtime.

During my getting ready for bed routine, I brushed my teeth, washed my face, took down my hair and brushed it out and braided it for the nightcap and then I saw it...a whi...a whis...a WHISKER! I shouted from the bathroom:P Not only did my darling husband come arunnin' but so did all my children. No one knew what I had been shouting about and they thought that I had found a rodent or some such critter in my bathroom.

As I faced my rescuers I pointed to my chin and said...A WHISKER! How is this possible? Who put that there? And IT'S RED!

Now...I'm 46 years old, I need some serious dental work, no gray hairs yet and here I find on my delicate (or not so delicate) little chin a whisker! I pull...I pull again...I yank and my knees nearly buckled! That think was attached to the nerves in my spine! However, I'm glad to say "The whisker has left the building!":)

Tonight my dear husband is ribbing me just a little about how the age thing sneaks up on some people. I'm wondering if he's right about that. After all, I am not really bothered by getting older at all. I am not worried about gray hair and check almost daily for them in expectation of that new season in my life. Perhaps the Lord is teasing me with this:D Just to see if I'm a little too smug about the aging thing:)

I'm truly over it now but I will say it was a humbling moment. And I'm so very glad I was able to share it with my family. Largely because I'll never live it down:P

So ladies...aging isn't really the issue...it's being surprised by it:)

Have a very blessed day!

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

Dear Lori,
Thank-you for walking us through the peach canning process. While I have canned peaches in the past I am not very organized about it. I also have wanted a canning kitchen but thought it had to be another room in my house. I also have everything you showed including a Coleman outdoor kitchen. I would have never thought of using it for that. I have a simple mind I guess. LOL Have a great day.
Blessings,
Alaina

Oh Lori, you do make me laugh!

I have done that self same whisker thing!!!
And I have a tonne of grey hairs, and I'm only a year older than you, so I've been shocked a whole lot more than you have LOL.

LOL! I am laughing WITH you, you know ;o)
I won't even go there with my issues, lol.

I started going gray at 19 and it has continued to develop, though I have noticed that I have so much more since January when my mom had a stroke. (No surprise that it's stress related.)

It actually looks kind of silver like my grandma's was (she was also a dark brunette to start). I've always had it colored (I don't know many gray headed ladies in their 20's you know) but haven't done it in several months and now we all see the "real me."

I started getting them at about 25!!! UGH!
I don't like them :o/ I guess this is a mountain that I'm going to have to get over!

Blessings,
Miki

I feel your pain, believe me I feel the pain. lol The pain of having to yank those little suckers out of my chin is something that I have endured for a couple of years now at least once a month. I go sit in my car where the light is good and no one can see me in all my humiliation, LOL. The things that us ladies have to go threw.
