A Day for Dreaming

{ 11:32, Wednesday, June 20, 2007 } { Posted in Country Doin's } { 6 comments } { Link }

Charlotte, Madeline, Sarah sharing a moment in studies.

Blessings!

Yesterday was such a wonderful day for all sorts of fun and activity. The girls dressed up in their Civil War garb and spent the afternoon down in the lower field near their camp. The only one you won't see is our Mary-Ann who is usually behind the camera:) She has quite the eye for photography.

Miss Sarah is ours and Miss Charlotte and Miss Madeline belong to CaraDD:)

Miss Charlotte and Miss Madeline are led down the meadow by Patch

Here they were strolling down to their setup in the lower field. The dog is never far from them. She just won't be left out:)

Miss Madeline and Miss Sarah entertained by some sweet distraction

Miss Charlotte

This is one of my favorite ones. It was taken up on the side of the house...obviously we need to do some weedwhacking:)

Notice Miss Charlottes bare feet:)

They had such fun. It was so awful warm though that they would change into swimclothes and do some splashing before dressing again to play in the meadow again.

It's such sweet moments as these that remind us of our purpose. To raise godly children. To encourage imagination and innocence in a world in chaos. Not an easy task but with the Lords help, all things are possible:)

While the girls were having such fun, CaraDD and I had some fun of our own making soap:) I'll post pictures of that later:)

Have a very blessed day in the Lord!

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

Fiddle-de-de I do declare, those are some mighty beautiful photographs.
I was saying to myself, those girls must have been very hot under all that clothing. The ladies back then must have suffered alot from the heat, especially us southern bells. LOL. I know I would have had the vapors all summer long.

It was mighty warm but you'd be surprised how cool those dresses really are.

Oh, I dearly love those dresses! Did you make them? What beautiful pictures, and what a lovely memory in the making. Thank you for sharing with us. :o)

Oh my....I know had I been in Civil War days with all the layers and propriety of the dressing back then, I **would** have melted away in the Southern heat and humidity.

Those dresses are wonderful....and I love the sepia toned photographs! What a gift your daughter Mary-Ann has with the camera.

Deanna

~~Blessings!
Actually they aren't nearly as hot as you might think. They do get a little warm but they have a wonderful cooling system:)
Yes our Mary-Ann is quite the photographer. She was thrilled when we got the digital camera that had black and white and sepia capability on it. She also has her old Canon that she enjoys as well. In fact, this summer she wants to take a photgraph developing class at the college.
God be with thee!

The pictures look like ones from the past...Your little picture taker has a GREAT eye.....I love old black and white photos and these look way back in the day....Loved them thanks for the post.......Debbie
P.S. If all the little ones in the world could enjoy a day as yours has, maybe it would be a better place to live huh?

blessed by your blog
