A Long Day at Goat Show

Blessings!

This is a picture of Brother Craig and our Miss Sarah (standing in the gateway). They were helping to put up pens and fixing gates and such the day before the show. (Friday)  As you can see in the background, we were not alone:)

We waited a good long time for the straw bedding to arrive before we could leave so we made the best of it:)

This little fella was following everyone around trying to get some attention while he waited to go home with his new owner. This was taken on Friday while we were setting up. He was so cute. He would get himself on the other side of a fence where he could see you through it and then start crying because he couldn't get to you:D Silly thing. But he was loved on by everyone to keep him happy:)

These little girls were only some of the Nigerian Dwarf does. They were lined up to go into the show ring. Such sweet things:) In fact, CaraDD and I brought home 2 little bucklings from the show (but that's another entry):s

These were some of the LaMancha does. They were so pretty. And what wonderful personalities those have:) As you can see, those girls are uddered up real big. Poor things. It's one of the hardest days for does. They wouldn't normally udder up that large if you are milking regularly.

Have any mommy's here ever been engorged making you REALLY glad the baby woke up to nurse? These girls were only partially milked out throughout the day until they finished udder and teat placement stuff. After that they milked them down for the other things.

We had a couple gals show up asking for the cast off milk for their rescue operation. They rescue orphaned wildlife and they happened to have 4 orphaned fawns. While we were helping to fill some of their milk containers they got another call for yet another fawn. All in all they ended up with 36 gallons of milk. They say that each fawn is raised on approximately 10 gallons of milk. So they got really close to getting it all:)

The Toggenburghs are so pretty. (And patient!)

These are the Nigerian Dwarfs. Or SOME of them, that is:) There were so many babies that came with these momma's:) And they were all sooooooooo cute you just wanted to scoop them up and take them home:)

CaraDD worked at the table with the judges writind down all the important stuff. She's good at that:) Not me, I forget things too easily and lists frazzle me:) Our Mary-Ann spent a lot of time being her helper as a ring clerk. She was to mark everyone coming in and then making sure she marked their placement once they were finished. She also has a great head for that stuff:)

CaraDD's girl and our Sarah also worked as ring clerks for other folks so the rings were running quite smoothly:) They all had such fun and learned so much.

Our Sarah and CaraDD's girl want to show next year and now our Mary-Ann want's to show HER goats too:) We are so happy about that because she is often quite shy and we like to see her step out a little now and then:)

Well, I best get my day going. I wanted to make sure I shared the pictures and events with you before I got going on my day:)

Have a blessed week!

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

Hi Sister,

Loved all the pictures of the goats!!
We just got back into goats ourselves. God is so good!! We have Tennessee fainting goats. They are just beautiful!!
I so missed them....we all did. They are just so much fun....and I love all the personalities of our goats. Each their own. :) Doesn't the Lord have such a wonderful sense of humor...I can see it daily in our critters!! :)

Sorry I haven't written back, we have been in and out of town. You know us small town people...always on the road to other towns and cities! :)

I have printed your letter out and plan to hand write....I hope you can read it! HA! :)
And I can't even say that I write with my bad hand! :)

Have a great day in the Lord,
S. Kris M.
