Blessings!

Well, we finally did get to go off on our little camping trip:) We left Friday morning and decided to stay over till today as this was our "Off Sunday".

We got there, got the camper situated and levelled, set up camp and spent a little time exploring the area. We've stayed there before, so really our exploring was mainly to see what had been added or changed since the last time:)

Lots of sights and sounds. Lots of things to pass the time away. I saw several things that I wished I had the camera for. We got back to the camper and I began supper right away. Husband got the fire started so we could gather round it after supper for prayer and bible reading.

I went in to the camper, got going right away, then remembered that I wanted to make sure to take the camera with us on our evening walk so I went to grab it out and put it by the door. It wasn't there! I tore that silly camper nearly apart only to finally remember that the camera was sitting by the front door back at the house SO I WOULDN'T FORGET TO TAKE IT WITH!!!!! :P Sooooooooooooo our weekend was spent without the camera and we had fun anyways:)

Saturday morning, I got up early (as usual) except that I didn't have goats to milk, no animals to feed, no one to wake up, no tasking to do! Well, except for making meals, cleaning the camper, tidying up camp, doing a little handwashing, hanging this to dry etc.

By Saturday evening, while sitting around the fire to enjoy some bible reading, it occurred to me that camping was like being home! After all it wasn't really "roughing it" for us:P We do our wash at home on a washboard in the summer months and hang them up to dry. We cook our meals outside, wash the dishes outside (easier than dirtying up the kitchen). We sit together and play games and read from the bible.

What a blissful realization that our lifestyle isn't one that we truly desire to escape! We aren't on the fast track so we don't have to "slow down":P We came home to a wonderfully clean house, happy animals, a cool breeze (and a sunburn for me:P) and I am now ready to get supper out:)

Okay, I'm really going now so I can fix supper and get our evening together. I"ll try to write a little more later on when everyone is in bed:)

God bless each one of you real good!

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

I am curious and if you have time to share... what type of meals are you able to make outdoors... other than the grilled burgers and hotdog meals? I'd love to learn more! Cooking outside sounds wonderful!

Warmly, Melissa

I'm glad you and your family had fun on your camping trip. I haven't been camping in many years, but would love to do it again soon.
I am with you on the pace of life, to me "getting away" is heading to my front porch swing for an hour or so. LOL
Have a great day.

You got yourself sunburned? It's because I wasn't there to bring you your hat....but wait, last time I brought you your hat, you went in the house and left it in, and got burned anyway! Oh, you! No more outside, you are now house mom. :)

As for Sister Lori's outside cooking, ask her about french fries! :P
