This is a joke, right??

"If a biological basis is found, and if a prenatal test is then developed, and if a successful treatment to reverse the sexual orientation to heterosexual is ever developed, we would support its use as we should unapologetically support the use of any appropriate means to avoid sexual temptation and the inevitable effects of sin," Mohler wrote in advice for Christians.

That is The Rev. R. Albert Mohler Jr. is the president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.  This was from a talk given March 2nd.  Mr Mohler has his email address posted and a form to send him email. Just click here should you wish to share your opinion with him.

So, if this is the case, maybe someday we'll have testing capabilities to weed out stupidity from the race....er, human population....too.  We won't have any of those annoying little childhood issues to deal with, like disobedience and such.  We can test for those in utero and then simply weed that part out of their genetic make-up before birth.

Hmm.....my children could all have perfect manners, total respect and admiration for their loving parents....all without my actually having to teach them they why's and what-for's of it all myself.  Sounds like a plan to me.

:::she said very tongue-in-cheek wondering why anyone would seriously propose something like this.  ugh.  makes me definitely want to give up the Baptist lable I carry:::

There is a way to avoid this type of temptation along the lines of what Mohler is talking about...they used to be called eunuchs :P

He did have some good to say in the article though. His main point in this and other articles was that if (and that's a big if) scientists did "find" a bioligical link, homosexuality would still be sin.

Anyway, I wouldn't rule out Mohler on account of this article--you'll never agree with someone 100% of the time and most of his stuff is pretty good. Oh, and about being Baptist...even if you just call yourself a Christian, many "Christians" have done some pretty bad stuff in the name of Christ. I'll still call myself a Christian.

May God continue to grant you wisdom in your reading.

Warmly,
Elizabeth
