Easter and pictures

Top o’ the morning’ to ya!

I hope you had a nice Easter with your families. We had a great time here! Pianomanjess came with Grand-doll Mom and Grand-doll. Grand-doll Mom is all aglow and growing a healthy Grand-new, just the special time of waiting right now. Lunch was really yummy. We put some chuck eye steaks in the pressure cooker for about 25 minutes and while they were pressuring, Randy got the grill going. After the 25 minutes we put the steaks on the grill to brown them up some and boy were they tender and good. I also pressure cooked some whole potatoes (the great big ones only take 12 minutes!) and then heated up some leftover Spanish rice and sautéed some fresh veggies. The girls made some cupcakes and decorated them up pretty. Almost too pretty to eat…. I said almost ...

We had an Easter egg hunt for the girls and was too full by that time to devil some eggs....maybe tommorrow! Here is a few more pix from Easter day.

I tried to get warm by getting on the sunwarmed slide, but myself just slid right off and Big Miss was right there with camera, so here I am in all my un-glory! (I had on shorts because while I was cooking I spilled boiling grease down my leg and it was painful!!!)

And here was Grand-doll happily feeding the chickens...

Spring is in the air, can you feel it?! AHHHH, just can’t wait till it is warm and here to stay. The strawberry plants are peeking out and my thornless blackberry is coming out of hibernation as well. The daffodils are up and ready to bloom. It is time to get the taters and onions in the ground again and Randy will be tilling this week-end and we will be planting soon. Glad winter is on its way out and I hope this was the last tank of propane for the Winter we have to purchase as we have spent $1,200 on 4 tanks this winter and that sure throws the budget off!

We have been doing some Spring cleaning outside. With young dogs nothing is safe and usually gets dragged around or at least chewed on a bit. Lots of stuff to haul to the dump and we have a pick-up bed full right now with more to go. It is looking a lot better though. Marsha is feeling well at home now and is playing with the other dogs. She has already grown and she has found the self feeders. I told Randy I believe she s hanging around the food all day by the way she is looking! He said she will slow down soon…. we will see, I hope we don't have Clifford here 'for too long.

Saturday we were out running errands and buying groceries and looking for a few containers to store the bags of wheat. We stocked up on enough to last a year -which is 10 bags. I like to store about 4 bags in a 45 gallon container and put some bay leaves in round it to assure no bugs want it before we do. Wheat IS going up as well as many other things and groceries in general, are you noticing? It will get high this summer, be prepared!

Saturday night Randy and I had date night and we took full advantage of it. We went to our favorite old country dancin' place. It’s called the Wagon Wheel.HMMMM.  I love the sound of OLD country…. Ya know the sound -Hank Williams. Cry in your beer and as Randy says, no night there is complete without their rendition of “See The Grown Man Cry” - yep, that’s the truth. We really love to two-step though and waltz to that sound and I started the night with 3 or 4 glasses of wine (which made me even more receptive to Grown Man Cry) after a long fun night on the dance floor -how I love to dance the night away with my man -me (and several more glasses of wine!) headed home. We got to sleep about 3:00 A.M. Love Love Love time with that man (and that Sangria!)

Big Miss has started sewing on a cute polka dot Summer dress. Here she is cutting it out and soon she will start the putting together of it.

Speaking of Big Miss, her sweetie ‘Cuda Man has been working away for a while in Checotah and has returned for a break. Here is a snap of their evening of rejoicing…… oh, young love so irritable adorable!

Full House girls are almost finished with their aprons as well, I think one more day of sewing and they will be done. I am soon to start making a cute full coverage apron that I think is really nice. We will post pictures as we have a go on it.

I keep hashing and re-hashing the thought of a milk cow. I know it is a big commitment but I keep thinking about all that fresh healthy milk, butter, cream, cottage cheese, cheese, sour cream and yoghurt that I can make! It is almost enough to KNOW it would be worth the twice daily milking, the cost of feed and the responsibility. I just keep thinking there is no better time than now but we just haven’t committed to the idea yet.

Susie, are you still out there? I have tried to e-mail you several times! E-mail me if you have a new address ok?

Well, that is about all the news here on the homeplace for now, I hope you have a wonderful week on your place this week!

You have so much to be proud of! Chelsea did a wonderful job showing me how to make the Reuben Bread. We had a blast!

Thank you for sharing your freshly ground whole wheat and yeast. Even Miles chowed down on our yummy results. I posted pics on my Facebook. :)

I'm excited about your blog site. I've bookmarked it!
