I must have lost my mind.....

Seriously, let me tell you about my day...

So its super hot and sticky this morning and I decide to go on a grocery shopping marathon with 3 kids, dh';s gram and me-pregnant and wearing capris, because since I broke my thumb I can't shave my legs.

And I am sooo low on all of my supplies, so ya know my list is a mile long!! But I was determined!! Grocery list and coupon binder in hand I conqured 2 grocery stores and even went out to lunch!!

The kids were great!! The boys were awesome, the little one I watch was great!! It went really well!!

What did me in  was the heat!! It is SOOOOOOOO hot and nasty outside.

Buy the time I got home, got all 3 kids inside, changed the baby's diaper, unpacked all the groceries, I was soaked-hot and sweaty don't even begin to cover how soaked and hot I was. I had to change all my clothes - everything!- that's how sweaty I was, how gross is that? Really gross I assure you!!

But its done now, I'm in the AC and now I just have to put it all away!! The cold stuff is already put away, so now its just the dry goods that need a home!!

First Shopping Trip of June

Ok, so I know I haven't been diligent on keeping grocey tally records, and I need to do better job!! So here I am once again starting again in seeing how low I can get our grocery bill each month. I am not really going to strive for a  dollar amount goal, at least not this month. Hopefully I will be able to cash in on some great deals and keep our spending low. We will see.

Today I went with dh's gram to Save A Lot, its not a store I normally shop at because its in another state, so its not exactly on my way -ya know? But today dh's gram wanted to go and see if we could find any good deals and we did, I'm so glad we went.

Here is the run down of what I got today:

Apple Turnovers .99- these were normally 2.79 but they were in the markdown bin, they looked great and dh will love these in his lunch box!!

1 family pack boneless porkchops, 3.84 - these were on sale for 1.98lb

Country Ham pieces, 1.84- A nice size pack- I will be using these to season dry beans, should get at least 2 pots of beans out of this much country ham

London Broil, 4.51- these were also on sale for 1.98lb

1 bag crinkle cut fries 1.69

1bag steak fries 1.69

2 bag of frozen lima beans 1.39ea

2 lbs of frozen Flounder Fillets 4.49lb

1 box pizza burgers 5.99

2 pk ice cube trays, 1.00 -ok I can't eat these but we use alot of ice so this will help in building up a supply of ice, especially with the boys birthdays coming up in a couple months

1 box canning salt, 1.59- getting geared up to do some serious canning, lol

2 boxes of Macaroni noodles, .77 each

2 boxes ground pepper, 1.39 each

1 lb dry pinto beans, .89

1 bottle dill weed, .89

1 loaf of bread, 2.59- ouch I could have done better at a store I normally shop at but I needed bread and it was right there, ya know how it is, lol

12pks kool-aid mix, 2.00- it was buy 10 get 2 free, lots of kiddos this summer

1 pk plastic cups, 1.19- putting these back for when I have the boys birthday parties

1.99lbs of Bananas @ .29lb, .58

20lbs of potatoes @ 5lbs for .98, 3.92

Total Spent 53.93, so How do you think I did? I know I saved on the meat, and the dill weed as its at least 2or 3 dollars in town,  the bananas and especially the potatoes were an awesome deal!!

A Very Productive Weekend!!!

I am very pleased to say that our weekend was very very productive. My husband worked his self silly this wekeend and I am SOOOOOO APPRECIATIVE!!

Things that were accomplished this weekend:

Electric Fence put in around our garden!! Dh also built a wooden garden gate for it as well!!
He also hand dug the holes for the wooden posts.

Dh worked on replacing the dry rotted rungs on the kids "new to them" playset. The rungs had to be replaced for the ladder, and the monkey bars.  He dug all the holes by hand to anchor the playset and he did some work to make it safe for even the littlest adventurer around here. The play set is still not completely done but Lord knows he worked like crazy on it all weekend.

All of the yard work was done, and he used the yard sweeper to sweep the clippings and used the clippings to mulch our big trees.

I was able to get the flowers planted, the 2 front beds are almost completely full now. Full but not crowded. They still need mulch, I think that will be a project for this weekend.

I also went to pick strawberries on Saturday, the boys went with me, buckets in hand and they picked a bucket for their Granny (my mom) and for their Mammaw ( Mike's gram). Boy are they yummy!!

We had a water gun/ water hose fight- actually the kids did, with some of the neighbor kids, I sat and crocheted while they played outside. They needed supervision and I wanted to work on a project- it was a win-win!!

All in all it was a very productive weekend and I am so happy with the results!! It feels so good to get those much needed projects done around here. I can't thank my hubs enough for all of his hard work!!

Menu plan Monday is on its way!!

The garden is in...

Thanks to my Dad and his tractor, my grandfather and my wonderful hubby, my garden is in.

I didn't do a thing either, except by the plants and seed. So of course I didn't get pictures like I wanted too.

My hubs sent me to town with my mom to get some ribs to put on the grill, we also had to run an errand for my dad and when I got back everything was already done.

My family is so good to me. I suspect they worked hard while I was away so I didn't have to because I'm preggers and I twisted my ankle, dh says its sprained, all I know is its sore and its hard to walk on it.

I tried to tell them I can still garden even though I am preggers but they baby me, I love it, but don't tell them I make a big stink when the don't let me do what I want  when I am preggers. Did I tell you the hubs  took mowing away from me? I am not allowed to mow now, I LOVE TO MOW, but the hubs is worried that it will bounce me and the baby around too much.

Anyway Dad tilled and layed off the rows, and the hubs and my grandfather planted 21 tomatoes, 21 marigolds around the tomatoes, 6 cayenne peppers, 21 green bell peppers, 7 hills of cucumbers, 1 lb of green beans, and I still have the watermelon, and pumpkins that the boys sprouted from seeds to plant. I would also like to plant some squash, and zuchini as well. And maybe a cantelope hill or two!!

Sunday....

Well its early morning here, the youngest and the hubs are snuggling since they are awake, my oldest is a great teenager in the making as he loves his sleep!!

Yesterday was nice, just us, we didn't end up helping a friend move, we called 2x and they either weren't ready or not there so we figured if they needed us they would call, but no call so we took care of things around here!!

First we went to the landfill to get rid of some old carpet they we took up from the living room and the hall, then dh set to mowing and I took our trash to the dump.

Dh used the yard sweeper to gather up all the cut grass and then used it to mulch around our peach tree which he tells me is full of little tiny peaches!!

Then he pulled up the stakes and such from the garden because today my mom and dad are coming over to till up my garden, my grandfather and grandmother are coming down as well and my grandfather says he is going to help me plant my garden, God Love Them!!

Ya know your pretty laid up from spraining your ankle when your 73 yr old grandfather volunteers to help get your garden in.  I'm pitiful, lol

Or could it be the promise of  BBQ ribs  on the grill that is alluring to my family, lol

Did I mention my little brother is coming too? No I don't care that he will be 30 in December he will always be my little brother!! And he knows it too, even though he is bigger than me!!

Actually my brother is coming to help my dad and dh put up a play set that we got for free from one of the neighbors!!!

And they know I'm going to feed them all!!

Because no one I mean NO ONE comes to my house, and leaves hungry, I am the families resident Cook and they all gather here for holidays or just because,   Well, because I love to cook and I love to cook for my family.

Should be a great next two days!!

I'll fill you in later!!

Good Morning!!

I wasn't able to make it here yesterday to post, I was wiped out by the end of the day!!

We went shopping to 2 different stores, came home, unloaded, dropped off the little girl that I watch, then picked up my oldest from the bus stop- it was early out yesterday, then went to lunch, went to 2 different places for garden plants and then finally made it home. The dog took off and I was trying to chase her and wrenched my ankle, UGH

So the only groceries that got put away yesterday was the cold and frozen items, my husband took pity on me and brought us dinner home. I love that man!!

Dh wrapped my ankle after we ate and sent me to bed- early!!

And that was my day in a nutshell.

My foot is still sore but I hope to be able to hobble around enough to day to get my work done and everything we planned for the weekend.

I'll have to let you know how it goes!!

Have a great weekend!!

Thursday's Ramblings

Today is another stay at home day for us, well for the most part it will be.

Today I hope to get the sheets washed and the dog bed washed too. Hopefully tonight dh will give her a bath. I definately have the Pregnancy Super Sniffer and she needs a bath, lol  I am pretty sure I am the only one its really getting too, thanks to the Pregnancy Super Sniffer, lol!!

This evening I hope to run to Walgreens and to the library, then tomorrow is my big shopping trip. There is alot on sale and I want to take advantage of the sales and the coupons I have to use.

I have some coupons to put into my coupon binder and I need to check over the sales ads and my lists again.

I also hope to get some crochet work done today.

Lots of homemaker stuff needs to be done, I am blessed to be able to stay at home and do those tasks!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Memorial Day Menu decided and other ramblings!!

Its shaping up to be a busy weekend. I both love and hate busy weekends. I mean its great to have something to do the entire weekend so your never bored but at the same time your normally so busy that come Monday morning you feel kinda cheated because you want to have your weekend back, lol

Ahhh.. we are so fickle, lol

Anyway like I said this will be one of those busy weekends!!

Saturday we hope to help some friends move.
Sunday barring no rain, we will be tilling and planting the garden. Infact I am so optimistic that I bought a pound of green bean seeds this morning. A pound is probably more than we will need but thats ok. I get a little excited and I will plant them all. Don't act suprised, You knew I would, lol
Then Monday what ever work we don't get done Sunday will spill over onto Monday. I have a feeling that the friends we will be helping move will be way to busy to cook so we invited them over for a cookout. And I even have settled on a menu:

BBQ and Greek Chicken
Hamburgers and Hotdogs
Potato Salad
Macaroni Salad
Baked Beans

Sounds yummy to me. Oh and I should make a dessert too. Better pull out the cookbooks!!

Ok gotta run!! Have a great day!!

Blessings!
Dana

My dogs are barking!!!

Oh man what a day!!

Today I went with my son's first grade class on a field trip to Washington, DC .

We walked from the Lincoln Memorial to the White House ( seeing all the sites in between) then we walked over to the Smithsonian- sadly we were out of time and didn't get to go in.

Let me just say for the most part the kids were very well behaved, and it was a good day.

My only complaints are that I am sunburned, my feet are killling me and I am exhausted.

Sunburn Gel 7.00

6pk of bottled water we drank along the walk 2.99

1/2 pack of capri suns we drank with lunch, snack and on the trip home 1.00

A Son who is super excited with the day... Priceless....

Yeah it was worth the sunburn and sore feet.

I'm glad I went!!

No Garden

Well it poured rain from about 2pm till sometime early Sunday morning. So wet ground means no tilling.

Oh well, now we are aiming for this upcoming weekend.

Which like I told my dad, no biggie, it gives me another week to put together enough money to get plenty of plants and such from the garden center!!

And since its memorial day weekend, and everyone is off of work and coming over here for a cookout, I'll have plenty of help getting it planted, lol

Can't beat that!!!

Off to plan a menu for the cookout!!

Busy weekend ahead!!

This weekend is shaping up to be pretty busy!!

Today we have a cubscout cookout and a birthday party to go to.

They both should be alot of fun for the boys and it gets me out of the house so no complaints here!!

Tomorrow I am hopefully going to be getting my garden tilled and start planting it!! I know its later than usual but we have had soooooooo much rain, not that I am complaining, the rain is good and we have been in a sort of draught for a while now so its nice to have the rain, it just makes getting the garden in a little difficult, but as they say patience is a virtue right?!

I can't wait to go to the cookout today, the boys are climbing the walls pratically, all I have heard is is it time to go yet, is it time to go yet,is it time to go yet, is it time to go yet???????? lol

Ok have a great weekend!!

He got a car!!

Whoo Hoo!!

We are the proud owners of a nice big fat car payment!! lol

Seriously I am really happy that he was able to get financing and a new car!! We have never owned a new car, everything we have ever had has been second hand.

The dealership close to our home wanted 2900.00 more for a used car than a new car, isn't that crazy?

Oh well, thank goodness it  all worked out!!

Ugh....What a day.....

Yesterday that is!!

My dh calls home early yesterday morning and tells me that his work car broke down and he is in the road because of no place to pull  off to and that the police are directing traffic around him.

He has to have it towed home and he proceeds to work on it all day. He even called a mechanic friend of the family and a 110.00 part later  and a nice gash on his forearm and the car still won't run. Honestly the car needs so much work, the thing literally is falling apart and it seems like we need to get a new car for dh to drive to work.

So now the stress begins, will we be able to get financing? Will we be able to find a decent car in a price range we can afford payments on?

Ugh Stress, I'm feeling it, Dh's definately feeling.

Calgon take me away, lol

Its a good thing I  made brownies yesterday, Chocolate is such a good thing to have during stressfull situations!!

Wish us luck!!
