Comfort Food and the sorts

Posted in In the Kitchen

I have a recipe for Potato Soup that I make quite often. It's the easiest thing to make and I always make sure I have the ingredients on hand. As I type this I have a big pot of it *making* on the stove.

I always double the recipe for my family of 5 and for a few extras that seem to bless my table quite often. Here is the recipe already doubled.

2  bags of southern style frozen hash brown potatos

10 Cups of water

10 chicken boullion cubes

2 pkg. Pioneer Country Gravy mix mixed with 1 cup water

Put the 10 cups water and bullion cubes and 2 bags of potatoes in a large pot and bring to a boil and then simmer for about 30 minutes or until potatoes are mushy. Stir often. Pour the country gravy mix in at the end and it will automatically thicken. Thats It!!!!

Garnish with shredded cheddar cheese and bacon if desired !After you make this once for your family be ready to always make it.Mine love it.

I love to cook but for those who don't I still encourage you to make things that are yummy for your family. The memories they have of home will comfort them well into their older years. In a society of fast food and take out we are letting the homefires burn out. Make your home a haven of comfort and yummy smells. Think about every older person that you hear talk of their childhood. 9 times out of 10 they will  tell you about the peach cobbler or the buttermilk  biscuits. And the heavenly smells that drifted out of mama's kitchen....Nothing can replace that!  Well thats the lesson for today!  I have to go stir my soup!I also have french bread rising. That is very good to dip into it!

Make memories and rememeber its the little things that  count!

Love,Tina
