Thought for the Day![]() Topic for Today: Worship (Blessings) There is more healing joy in five minutes of worship than there is in five nights of revelry.---A. W. Tozer Have a Day Full of Blessings! Praying for the Sun to Make an Appearance Today!!!Happy Birthday America!!!! Let's all cheer for the Red, White and Blue!!! I love the Fourth of July, and the cookouts, family gatherings, and fireworks. But this year, we aren't sure if there is going to be much fireworks. We might be able to still arrange the cookout, and just eat indoors. But is is difficult to celebrate with fireworks when it is raining!! UGH! The weather reports aren't sure if the rain will stop before sunset and the big firework displays or not. DARN IT! Matthew took off earlier this morning with our Noah, 3 years old, to pick out some fireworks. We always wait until the 4th to buy ours because of the wonderful sales they hold the day of. He alsos picked up some sausage and milk on the way home for our breakfast....sausage gravy and biscuits!! YUMMY! He even made breakfast for us. Matthew never cooked (except for Hamburger Helper) until he met me. LOL Now he is the breakfast expert and won't let me in the kitchen when he is making pancakes or his specialty of biscuits and gravy. The rest of the day we are going to hang out, relax (finish putting away laundry, do a few dishes) and just enjoy having daddy home! Tonight we are going to my brother's house for a cookout (possibly cook in...depending on the whether), and then back to town for the city wide fireworks display. I am looking forward to seeing my family today. We are all so busy, and it seems working schedules conflict that we don't get together more often. Looking forward to seeing how big my neice Megan is getting with her first pregnancy. She is due in October, and I am sure she isn't much bigger than her little frame was before, but maybe a tiny bit. Matthew's family is all scattered this weekend. We made a comment last night that if everyone wasn't gone, we would have loved to get them all together at our house this weekend. Oh well. His parents church is having a 3 day meeting, his sister lives in Washington,DC area and unable to come home, and his other sister, her hubby and 5 year old daughter just started their 5 day trek back to Missouri from California and today. They visited Sea World, Disney, etc. and had lots of fun. I can't wait to hear about their trip!
Trucking AroundHere it is Saturday morning. The sky with its streaks of blue with some white strata clouds and some rather grey clouds off on the horizon. The sun filters through. My Nellie dog stuck her nose in my face and got me up so she could go explore the day. Well we are going to go exploring today too! Not too far from home. This country has a lot of country to explore which is fantastic fun.Got a lot of scraping done on the pastors' log home yesterday. My husband and I are going to paint it after the old paint has been scraped. I think it is more of a coloured log finish than paint but painting we shall call it. And some cold cash in our pockets will feel good. Our garden is getting planted bit by bit. Not too much more to go now. I want to put in a row of sunflowers and then we can start planting second crops of swiss chard, lettuce and so on. We pushed a small herd of 18 cows and calves back out onto the range the other day using two of our dogs to help. They did an excellent job. Our Sassy dog isn't a year old yet. And Blueberry is two. It is so nice to have the help of dogs. My Nellie dog is good around the cows but she doesn't want to get out there and push them and keep them going she just wants to stick close to me. Not sure what to do about that. Maybe just keep using the other two.We fixed one of the gates to the meadow last night. Oh my now there is a job. But my husband jacked up the gate and climbed the ladder up the main post and redid the brace. Not an easy job. I handed tools and was the "encourager". You know things like "don't lean so far the ladder is going to tip, we can't sit the ladder here it isn't level, you will kill yourself, be careful dear." things like that. It actually is kind of scary for me to watch as there is no help close by if something did happen. The other gate we Mickey Moused so it will be able to open and close till we can get to it with new rails. I have to go get chores done so that I am ready for when Larry, our friend, comes to pick us up. we are going with him to the Bazeako River and Blackwater River. PIck up a fishing camp and move it down here to the Blackwater and Nazko River. I think this afternoon will find us back at the pastors house but not sure about that yet. I do have flowers and a greenhouse there to water. We are keeping an eye on it while they are on vacation for a couple of weeks. Awhile ago we had a black fox! There seems to be three of them or else these little critters have a wide territory they cover. Very pretty little critters that is for sure. Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes. Song of Solomon 2:15 May there be no little foxes gnawing at your vines! God Bless You with a fun Saturday Roxanne July 4thI do hope each and every one of you out there have a safe and happy 4th of July. Remember to thank God for the freedom that we share and the ability to do what we like, go where we'd like, and to live and love like we want. Sometimes we take these things for granted, I know I tend to. Have a great day!Happy 4th! and Making Herbal Vinegars![]() Wow, I can not believe it is already July. The summer is going by quickly. I sure hope you all enjoy the day with your families. We will go see fireworks this evening with another family or two. Since the kids and I are going out of town on Monday (Kids NJ and me NC) we still have much to get done around the house and yard today. Dh and ds need to move some wood to the wood pile from a tree I had taken down this week. Then they will mow, I might help with that so we can finish quickly. But my help consist of mowing on the riding mower...not a tough job. We will have a nice dinner of marinated chicken on the grill. Can't celebrate the 4th without the grill. I have gotten alot done the past few days. Esp. with the weeding. That is a never ending chore. Even with mulch, the weeds find a way to creep through. They are clever little plants! Yesterday I harvested some herbs to make herbal vinegars. I want to take a couple down to my mother and sister next week. They are so easy to make and look so pretty out on the screened porch soaking up the sun. ![]() This one is tarragon in white wine vinegar And this is dill and peppercorn in red wine vinegar.Herbal vinegars make great gifts. I look for inexpensive bottles at the thrift stores or Walmart. So the cost for the gift is relatively low. And they make great use of all my herbs that are needing to be harvested. ![]() Well, I had better get going....much to do today. Have a Day Full of Blessings! Lori Cute Children and pets picturesMy Mom sends me some cute e-mails. I love these one and had to share with you all. Who is walking who?
Ah, can I keep him? (the dog is asking):

Farmers are having a hard time with crops . The fields are filled with water tractors can't get on its a mess. We have such a short growing season too begin with. The hay crop some don't even have first crop in yet do to rain. Here at the farm My garden not doing so good have replanted cucumbers again. Also have pumpkins -squash-cukes started over in the greenhouse.. I have to grow them enough so the rain and beetles do destroy them. Ray has put new fencing up for the goats Mike and Blarney are doing just fine. Mike just got banded a few days ago he is doing fine. And Blarney lost his band a few days ago and he is doing great. Blessings Sister Brenda School PicnicThis week our Classical Conversations homeschool group got together to have a picnic and sign their yearbooks. It was a lot of fun. The kids went around and spent the first hour signing each others books and laughing at the pictures and the memories of this past school year. Then they were off to do what kids do best, have fun. They played a game of volleyball and some swung on the swings. It was a glorious day with a cool breeze blowing. Thanks be to God for such a wonderful day and for these young people who are learning and growing in the Lord. May they all be kept in the Lord's merciful arms. Madly signing yearbooks...ds is seated and so is dd, in the green shorts.![]() Have a Day Full of Blessings! Lori Here is a plug for Classical Conversations. They started in NC and have grown unbelieveably the past 10 years. We have been involved for the past two years and plan to continue this coming school year. And what an education the kids are getting....look them up on the internet...Classical Conversations.com. They may be in your area.
